I donated over $100 worth of trophies to the IECacher.com bash last year. The park is free. Everyone brought potluck food. Where is the $300 in expenses and where are the other events?

There is not much truth or logic behind most anything attached to IE Cachers.com.

Visit www.iecachers.org for the rest of the story.

No kidding!

So altigenman, tell us please. Who is iecachers.com and how do they differ from iecachers.org?

Is iecachers.com some kind of breakaway, commercial group?

A bit off topic but the 2 groups have different set of ideals of what caching is all about. If you would liie to read up on the issue both sites have their sides represented but the .com you must register. The .org site is free to browse.

Now as for the coin...I agree they are very good looking. I would love to have one. My badge and patch have that arrowhead symbol on them so it would be great to have one. But like many of you I will pass due to the cost. With shipping I have yet to pay over $14.00 for a coin...even on e-bay!!!!

I was at the first event....fishpoet makes a great BBQ hamburger. I didn't make the second event as it was held on Father's Day.

Thank you to everyone who donated stuff to the raffle, too many to name but especially to Doug aka Fishpoet for the trophies

With the raffle items donated and the trophies donated, What other expenses could there be that would end up in the hundereds of $?

Many people are emailing me directly about wanting to trade coins...

Unfortunatly we are not able do that right now we didn't expect such a big response. Perhaps we can do that with the next IEcacher coin.

Thanks everyone for all the interest.

I had a heated discussion with another coin creator a couple months ago about this exact issue, overcharging! I still contend that as long as people are willing to pay outrageous prices for these coins, they will continue to go up until almost everybody loses interest. The only thing we can do as collectors is just as most people on this forum have said... we will pass! I don't know who you are selling these coins to but P.T. Barnum would be proud!

I must not be the smart one in this whole equation. I'm selling 4 coins for $33 . I'm I suppose to be trying to make money at this or provide a quality product while keeping a few for myself to sprinkle in caches?

Wow, I haven't read enough of these forums. Should I be charging $64 for my set?

Check it out at Dreamcatcher Coin Set

Mike, Atwell You are mixing apples and oranges, You are putting out a great coin at fair market value, hats off to you and Windrose on a great product/concept, Cheers, Glenn :(

As for the above all I can say is :sad:

Do you ever answer questions directly?

I could care less how much you try to sell you coins for. If people are willing to pay $16 a piece then kudos to you. I do care that you misled folks that the coins were to support expensive events in the IE. Could you please answer my question.

With the trophies donated, the raffle items donated, the park and the food cost zero.....Where did you spend hundreds of your dollars to make the event happen?

You can call it a witch-hunt if you like, but when things like this happen (obvious avoidance of questions) it raises a lot of red flags with the coin buying community.

This seems like a legitimate question to me...

Yup, they are trackable on Geocaching.com and right now were not having any problem selling them at 16 bucks off of the site. The custom icon hasn't been activated on the GC site yet, but it will be a footprint of course.

They really look great. Perhaps next time we will skimp on the metal and make them cheaper for ya'all.

I do appreciate all your input though.

I think this thread would have went a little better if you would have added in the begining that all profits are going to your group that way every body does not think you are just trying to get rich quick.

Yes, we would hate to see anyone get rich off coins.

We spent over $500 on each of our events this year, (there were three), out of our pockets, and only charged $ 7-8 per coin. Granted, they weren't trackable, and weren't out of some fancy metal or other, but that didn't seem to bother anyone. They sold like hotcackes.

Sorry, your reasoning for such a high price doesn't wash.

So you are charging the same price as a trackable coin for a non-trackable coin?

It would be this type of snide remark and avoidance of actually answering questions that isn't making you any friends here. But then again, at $16.oo a coin I'm guessing you're not interested in making friends.

Seriously - explain the reasoning behind the cost and answer a few questions and let it be.

If you're charging $16/coin because you CAN - just say so.

What is the metal that we should pay a premium price for? I mean really, Alaska made a coin that was .9999 pure silver with 24 ct gold relief, and charged $50. It is worth that. And sold out. Is this coin in that league? If it is, then it is a bargain! Let us know! You are the sales person for this coin, sell it!

I don't like the tone this thread is taking.

The coin producer should know that if you post in these forums, you should expect feedback, good and bad.

Those who don't want to pay those prices, don't buy the coin. There's no need for taking this down the road it's headed.

I, personally don't see why coin buyers should be bearing the brunt for parties they don't even get to attend. You should justify that reasoning. Events can be held at a minimum of cost. BYOWhatever, PotLuck, State Park, Local Park, beach, you don't have to spend a lot to meet and greet and have fun. That's just my humble opnion.

Now get this thread back on topic.

Well, I agree with you Eartha. I asked a question about the metal and got no response. He is expecting us to lay down our hard earned money for his event, and he won't even have the respect for us to answer valid questions.

And I don't think many of us believe the coin is selling well.

As for our coins being underpriced: I have enough respect for the people here not to gouge them. I might want to sell another coin, and don't want to burn this bridge behind me.

I'm out!

I cannt believe that people that read these forums are buying this coin, I vote with my wallet and my wallet votes NO

I doubt if he's sold more than 10-15 coins, but hey - if that's how people want to spend their money -- more power to them. People are paying up to $10,000 for a PS3 on eBay. Or so I heard on the news. And I feel the same way about that -- More power to them.

Instead of this "just o.k." coin, for $16 I bought 2 really cool coins. And for $10,000 -- well if I had $10,000 I could think of a lot of things to buy but a PS3 wouldn't be it.

I'm fairly new to the geocoin fever and have been building my collection on Ebay and through REPUTABLE manufacturer's websites for a couple of months now. With the frenzy on Ebay to pay $30 or more for coins I can see where Mike is coming from (charge what the market will bear). But it also smacks of exploitation and it seems to me that Ebay is the place to take advantage of what the buyer's willing to fork out for a commodity not the GC forums. Just my humble opinion.

It's actually the symbol of The County Of San Bernardino not the "local" I.E. The coin's shape is the shape of the shoulder patch of the County of San Bernardino Fire Dept. too.

Those interested in buyiing a coin should do a search of the natural landmark found on the hillside. You may find it very intersting.

Ok,

1-You can stop telling us how good they are selling

Because

2-Your coin has been for sale for 5 days now, if they were selling that "freakin" good they would be sold out by now.

I've been thinking the same thing!
