I have asked for some help from people in this part of the forum about coins. I have never made one before and can see it being a long and possibly costly process (depending on who's story of their coin a listen too!)

 

Any how I have created an image of a possible coin and would like more feedback. I have posted originally here in coin area and seem to be getting quite a bit of US interest, but would really like some UK thoughts.

 

The coin is really to recognise the work done by Volunteer Search Dogs where ever they may live and work.

 

I'm not sure that I can mention the UK bodies as I don't want to get into the promoting a charity thing - but if you go through my profile and follow the obvious lnks you will find many of the organisations that I am talking about.

 

If you like it, what size would you like it to be? how much would be reasonable to charge for it? anything else that you would like changing?

I really like the coin - but like some of the others have mentioned it would be nice to use the image you have as your avatar. I don't think that would be advertising as such because it is also your caching team name.

 

Good luck with it and I look forward to seeing the real thing soon!

I put my reply in the coin forum, but I think normal size would be good.

 

Photo coins look great, I have a few, but not nearly enough :)

 

I recently got a set of Pepper Memorial Coins, and even though I am more of a dog lover, I think they look fantastic.

 

You asked about pricing. I know that coins are much cheaper across the pond than they are here, and some of our American cousins frown at cost, but I personally, would not object to paying about a pound per coin (over and above production and postage) towards the SAR charity.

 

I wouldn't worry about the charity aspect of your coin making giving offence or whatever, the charity coin idea has been done several times before and nobody has objected. Just be very clear to people where the money is going and why.

Nice design, I prefer normal size

 

Will it have its own icon (makes it even more desirable IMHO)?

 

That its for charity is a the icing on the cake

 

I would certainly buy a couple (I usually buy in twos, and release one)

I'm not a geocoin collector, it's never really floated my boat although I know many cachers get a buzz from it. That said I'd happily buy one of these to support the berkshire sar dogs.

Go for it! I'd vote for full size but whatever......

It seems to be the going price in the UK - and to be honest if none of them get bought by 'them across the pond' I don't really mind!

Whilst my web design skills are not too bad, I was unable to link the paypal system with the counter so I have to do it manually.

 

I will have a look when I get after my shift finishes at 02.00 and update the counter!

We saw the dogs in action at the Burrington Coombe Event in Feb - you all do a grand job.

Nope, not yet. Really looking forward to receiving these beauties though and already have a trade lined up for one :)

I was going to order one, but now I'm nervous about doing that since a Sept 1 post said they were being sent out that week, and several have said recently there's no sign of them.
