Software for mapdata

I don't have a GPS yet but I am trying to use data files from GPS's. I wanted to know some software, hopefully free that I could use to open it. I have TOPO! but it doesn't want to open it. I have also downlaoded easy GPS and Globe Mapper 8 but I can't seem to get the files to open.

 

The files are snowmobile trails and are located at:

Well, you could download Garmin's Mapsource:

 

http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209

 

Then, download and install the maps you linked to...

This link states that I need to own a mapsource product for this to work? is this so? I guess I will give it a shot and see what happens. Thanks!

Unfortunately it didn't work. When I attempted to install it an error popped up saying "previous mapsource not found"

 

Any other ideas would be great!

Sorry - although I've never tried it I thought it would work. Mapsoure is the "viewer" software for all of Garmins mapping products.

 

Another way would be to install GpsMapEdit from:

 

http://www.geopainting.com/en/

 

It is an editing program (for the purpose of creating Garmin img files) and you could open the img files to see the detail...
