jr20
Is there any where to find help or information on how to use this unit? I personally use a Magellan but at a event I had someone showed up with one of these and didn't know how to use it and neither did any of the other seasoned cachers but I would like to help this cacher get started caching and not end up throwing it in a drawer some where because they got discouraged. Thanks. Quote Link to comment

The Go is pretty easy to use. I had never used a GPS before, and I had it loging waypoints in just a few minutes. I haven't used it on easy mode, but in the advanced mode, the thumb pad will drag the map and show coords on the bottom. the closer the zoom, the more accurate the coords. To log a point, I generally zoom way out and move across the map until I'm close to the pts that I want then I zoom in closer and chip away until I have the right points. Once there, press enter and it will do a quick save (as a number like 0001). Then if you press find... my places...(pick your preference for listing)... select the number off the list and scroll through the options to change the name of the point. . . enter saves it. Changing the name is pretty self explanatory, but a pain. Quote Link to comment
+Steel City Seekers
Whoa, whoa. What happens on the Go when you press the Ent button from the map screen? It should come up with a menu to create a new waypoint from a variety of options, including an "Entered Position." This allows you to add the coordinates directly to create a waypoint rather than zooming and scrolling until you have the cursor in the correct coordinate spot. Much less laborious if you already know the coordinates. Quote Link to comment
Joolz2007
I'm completely new to this hobby, but I've been playing around with my Lowrance Go for a couple of days and the most important thing is that it has to be set to Advanced Mode to be able to set waypoints. I believe that the factory default sets it to Easy Mode. To change this, turn the machine on (obviously ), press the Menu button and scroll down to Advanced Mode, press enter and then select Yes. Julie We have a GO and completely agree with you. By the way, the unit does seem daunting at first to use, but once you get it into "Advanced Mode" and use it, it becomes quite easy. Good luck!
