NoBetterName
Microsoft Sam says cito as Sigh-Toe and CITO as SEE-EYE-TEE-OHH So, I'm going to use Sigh-Toe for $200 Alex! Quote Link to comment
+BoggyWoggy
Let's change it to an acronym we can all read and say correctly! I've recently begun referring to Poison Oak near caches as "FPO." I'm trying to start a revolution! You know what the "f" stands for. So, now, instead of CITO, let's call it: PUTWYC- pronounced "put-wick." Pick-Up-Trash-When-You-Cache Quote Link to comment
+hairball45
I'll agree with Mr. Dolphin from an earlier post. (I used to live "acrost' the river from Joisey) I'll go with sit-oh. Cit like in "city", not "site". The Oh is pretty obvious. hairball Quote Link to comment
+Cedar Grove Seekers
I vote for "sea-toe" as in Cito Gaston, they guy who managed the Toronto Blue Jays from '89 to '97. That's probably the reason I call it "sea-toe" too. Bye the way, Cito is back managing the Jays again. Quote Link to comment
CLV3
Here in Maine, I have only heard it said See-tow. But then again, our cahs ah in ouh dooryahd. Hehehe I am from Portland (big city) Maine and until I met my in-laws I had never heard the word dooryard. Still cracks me up when I see/hear it. Quote Link to comment
+swfirefly
Think about it... how do you pronounce FBI? CIA? NRA? NAACP? Acronyms don't get pronounced, so spell it out: C-I-T-O. Then... the next closest thing to spelling it out is "Sigh-toe" What about scuba and NASA? Edited October 29, 2008 by swfirefly Quote Link to comment
galakayser
good morning, my name is Belen and I am student of the school of journalism of the Spanish newspaper the Country. I am preparing an article about geocaches and I have put myself in contact with several finders here in Spain. nevertheless I know little on this practice abroad: How it began? it does how long? in what countries more it is extended? how many usuary it has? I would like that somebody could give this information me, or contact with somebody to that could interview via email. I wait for its answer; thanks beforehand email: bk.edp19@gmail.com Quote Link to comment
+Pork King
Here in Maine, I have only heard it said See-tow. But then again, our cahs ah in ouh dooryahd. What's a "dooryahd"? Here in Mississippi, we have a front yard, side yard, and back yard... Also, we tend to say "SEE-toe"(with a bit more drawl. Like "SEEEEEEEEE-Towww) . I seem to remember reading somewhere on gc.com there was an "offical" announcement of CITO pronunciation, but that was years ago. Quote Link to comment

+KenyonFam5
I always say: C. Sigh-toe. Ditto Just learned of it a couple weeks ago but I have always gone with this too....sigh-toe! Quote Link to comment
+Puppy Dawg
Sea-toe But it comes out like "Woof woof woof woof woof woof" Quote Link to comment
+CanDMan47
I've always said sit-toe, but being reminded of Cito Gaston (even though I'm not a fan of his per se), I think see-toe may be more accurate. I don't know if I'll be able to change it, though, because it has burned a spot in my mind as sit-toe Quote Link to comment
+LaxRef93
See-toe although we don't do it as often as we should.. Quote Link to comment
