+Shawnct
Does anyone know if the following bill has been changed / enforced etc.? On 15 March 2005 the South Carolina Legislature introduced Bill H3777, which is entitled, "A Bill to Amend the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, by Adding Section 16-17-605 so as to Define the Terms "Geocache", "Geocaching", and "Letterboxing", to Provide that it is Unlawful to Engage in Geocaching or Letterboxing in Cemeteries, Archeological Sites, or on the Historic Properties of the State, and to Provide a Penalty". Researching before our next SC Trip. Thanks Quote Link to comment
+gpsfun
It is my current understanding that the bill did not make it out of committee and has no effect. Quote Link to comment
CoyoteRed
Bill H3777 is officially dead. That doesn't mean the push is defeated, only that the bill's sponsors have to start all over again. If they will or not is not known at this time. Quote Link to comment

+gpsfun
Has anyone tried to contact the sponsors with positive geo-info? South Carolina geocachers have been very actively involved in this issue, and the suggestion you offered has been thoroughly pursued. Quote Link to comment
+Brett&Citty
Does this mean we can have cemetary caches again? Quote Link to comment
+Prairie Dog
Does this mean we can have cemetary caches again? Any new Geocache placement should have adequate permission from the landowner as suggested in the Geocaching.com guidelines. http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx Quote Link to comment
+Deliveryguy428
Does this mean we can have cemetary caches again? Just how hard did you hit your head at TTII??? In all seriousness though, like PD said, obtain permission, I know it can be hard and frustration at times. Quote Link to comment
+Clan X-Man
Do we really need them again? I think we have done just fine without. X Quote Link to comment
Hologram21
Personally, if you want to go that route, I would suggest no physical caches in cemeteries to avoid any potential problems in the future. Quote Link to comment

+Mad Cat
Hey the representive who introduced the bill is running for a senate seat, she might try to push it when she wins, or just forget about it.. [Edited by moderator] Edited March 26, 2007 by Keystone Quote Link to comment
