GSAK - Am I doing it right?

Today I decided to log my finds using Cachemate on the PDA as I progressed round. I exported the cachemate file and loaded it into GSAK where it recorded my finds. I was then expecting to find some kind of option to load the finds up to GC.com.

I found the only way was to click on the individual finds in my GSAK list and then copy the log entry before hitting the 'Log Cache' button which takes you into the relevant record in GC.com where you paste the info.

I noticed the 'Copy' button didnt seem to work. Also the time stamp prefix was just 00:00 when I viewed the finds in GSAK. I then deleted all the found waypoints on my GSAC list.

This did seem to be an okay process. I can also see that concerns over data loss can be reduced if you regularly create a GPX file from Cachemate if for instance you are on holiday and will not be updating on the PC till you get home.

Is there a better way though without the cut/pasting?

I wasn't aware gsak could upload your logs to gc.com from a cachemate import. Sounds a bit clever, but I remember coming across some cheapo looking - FREE software that would upload multiple logs to GC.com, can't remember the name of it right now.

Sounds like there's a lot more to GSAK than meets the eye, I'll be watching this post closely.

It would be great to create a bunch of logs offline and then upload them in one operation but Groundspeak won't allow it. Using GSAK to access each cache page in turn and then pasting in the log data is as good as it gets I'm afraid.

you can't bulk upload your logs, but you can use a GSAK macro to pull up each page individually - and then a simple Ctrl-V will paste anything you originally wrote into the cachemate log.

Submit the log, and then you then just click continue in GSAK to pull up the next found cache!

I'm just off for the weekend, but I'll post the macro with some explanations when I get back - if nobody else has done so!
