+Hav42 Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Just curious what folks think about having the option to build a PQ's by username. For example, if there is a specific geocacher that has very clever hides, I think it would be fun to create a PQ for all the hides that person has done. I do most of my caching based on PQ's now and download the logs to my PDA. I think it would be fun to load up a bunch of caches all by the same person and have at it. I realize that I can get this by clicking into their profile, but I really like working off the PQ email and having the files in a downloadable format. I can load them into my GPSr and PDA in a matter of minutes and be out the door. I posed this question through Geocaching.com and they suggested that I add it here. So... Thoughts? Do you all think this selection, by username, would be useful in the the "Building Pocket Queries" form?

I agree, of course when they implement a buddy type list (watch specific user) it will also accomplish this. Before someone points it out, GSAK does allow you to do this now however with users that have caches spread across 200 miles (yes, they are out there) this becomes more difficult. The only other way you could accomplish this is to find the specific user and create bookmark lists of all their caches. This would, of course, require maintenance as caches are added or archived. Just wanted to cover all the reasons that will be given as to why it should not be there. Oh yea, someone will mention privacy but that doesn't apply here anyway. Adding a box in the search engine (PQ) would definitely be a plus. Edited February 7, 2007 by baloo&bd
+StarBrand Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 I'm not sure it would see widespread use but I can see it as a useful option to add in. Might also be nice to "exclude" caches placed by a certain account name.
+TheAprilFools Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I think this would be useful, to be able to include or exclude caches placed or found by another cacher. there are often times when I am going to an area with another cacher and would like to create a set of caches that both of us have not found, right now I have ways to do that but its pretty complicated.
+Hav42 Posted September 13, 2007 Author Posted September 13, 2007 I have been playing around with GSAK and have found it works quite well. I setup filters based on cache owner and then export them as a .gpx file. I then load them into my DELL AXIM 51v for use with GPXSONAR and my Magellan. I just have to remember to import my new pocket queries into GSAK and I'll be good to go.
