+roboknight
Hi everyone, I wanted to see what everyone thought I would like to make a geocoin series of different wildlife birds. I just wanted to see what everyone thought. I would have a picture of the bird on one side and then something comical on the other side.. Let me know what you think or if you have any ideas.. Thanks Robomaiden ( team roboknight) Quote Link to comment

+DresselDragons
How about this bird: LOL! That is the first one that came to my mind, too! Quote Link to comment
+MustangJoni
How about this bird: That is too funny! Quote Link to comment
+AtlantaGal
I would be more interested if the coins were shaped versus round. Quote Link to comment
+J10fly
Man, there's a couple ways to go with this one. I'll just keep my mouth shut. Jayman11 Quote Link to comment
+CachingCoins
I love birds or any wildlife for that matter! I'd buy birds, especially if they were shaped. I'm trying to get away from the plain old round ones. Quote Link to comment
+Degai
9Key, you are hilarious!!! I must admit, I, like the rest of you, thought about Big Bird! Quote Link to comment
thespongefactor
Big bird WOULD make a cute coin! Quote Link to comment
thespongefactor
Maybe you could shape them like the bird it would be after. Just a thought. Quote Link to comment
+DresselDragons
Big bird WOULD make a cute coin! The bad thing is...everytime I read the title of this thread, I keep adding "big" in front of bird, even though it is not there. Seriously, though, any birds picked out yet? You could do seasonal birds...cardinal in the winter (they look so pretty against the snow), robin for spring, maybe a sea gull for summer (ya know...vacation at the beach), and...not sure about a fall bird. Quote Link to comment
+9Key
There's been at least 3 coins with cardinals already. How about blue jays and robins? Those are pretty common all over North America, I believe. Quote Link to comment
57chevy
How about this bird: Thanks a LOT!!! Now I have that song stuck in my head.... Arggggghhh..... Sunny day, Chasin the clouds away...... must.. not.. listen... to.. the .. bird!!! Seriously though How about using birds like the Ivory billed Woodpecker that are seriously endangered, and other birds that would not be so common. The woodpecker coin could have holes in it. I was going to say turkey, but they're such ugly looking birds...we got an up close and personal view of the one that was dumb enough to fly into the side of our house and commit turkey-cide back in November. +roboknight
Hi everyone, Thanks for all the good ideas. I think I will stay away from big bird since I am sure there is a BIG COPYRIGHT over him. I think my first coin will be a mockingbird but will keep your ideas in my head for the next in the series.. They will be limited so be onl the lookout the next few months.. Thanks so much Robomaiden ( Team Roboknight) Quote Link to comment
+~tasia~
I like the idea that it would be in the shape of a bird... and i do think that a blue jay would look great... wonder if the OP is not going to do shaped (opts for round), that i could work with someone on designing a blue jay coin... Parrolet
As you can see I have done a parrot coin. I am considering doing a second. Quote Link to comment
+Go JayBee
An Owl with glowing eyes would be very cool....or a hummingbird would be a very unique one. Quote Link to comment
+DresselDragons
Oooo...a toucan would be pretty! Just looking at the cereal box...LOL! Quote Link to comment
+chaosmanor
When the Big Cats series came out a few months ago, there was good discussion about which cats to have, and the OP graciously took some of the ideas and tweaked the set so that each major continent (Africa, NA, Sa and Eur-Asia) had a representative; no Big Cats on Oz, I guess. The set turned out very well So, if I might make a suggestion, why not have one bird from each continent: for example, toucan from SA, kukkaburra from Australia, etc. This will make the set a truly international one Or, if you prefer to stick with NA for now, take a bird that is common to each region: ptarmigan for the north, condor in the West, etc. Put the bird in a wild setting; it should be quite easy to add an ammo can, much as triplewisdom did with her '4 seasons" set. With a little creative design, you could actually have nice shaped coins. I can see my idea in my mind's eye, but I'm not nearly skilled enough to put it on paper. Quote Link to comment
+Goudacat
I think a great blue heron would be very distintive on a shaped coin. Quote Link to comment

+DresselDragons
Love the state bird idea My co-worker said she had a peacock in her back yard in the summer (how/why...I don't know), but it got me to think that would make a stunning bird for a coin. Are there any peacock geocoins? Quote Link to comment

+roboknight
]This is the drawing for the first of the Team Roboknight Bird series Geocoins. There will be either 3 or 4 in the issue. The first run (and possibly only run) will be 100 minted. The first issue is one of my favorite birds: a Mockingbird. On the back a cartoon of two cachers in the woods a bit confused actually. The mockingbird mocks one of the cachers with a countdown and one of the cachers is puzzled since his gps says he is at GZ and hearing the birds mock thought it was his fellow cacher answering. Cute coin! It will be trackable at gc.com I have not recieved my sample coin yet but it is in the works. As soon as I recieve the sample coin and approve it it will go to mint. I am NOT taking any orders but will reserve coins for you if you wish. You can e-mail me at robomaiden at comcast dot net. Once I recieve the coins I will start taking orders and will send out invoices. Once again the samples are not in hand yet but will be in about 2 weeks or so and then about 2 or more weeks for minting and receiving the coins. Hopefully the coins will reach me some time the begining of April or mid April possibly earlier.
