chuckr30
I think the cheapest ammo can I have found is at www.cheaperthandirt.com for about $9. Our local army surplus is way expensive on everything. Quote Link to comment

+StarBrand
Last ones I got were like $7 ea for .50 cal and $5 ea for .30 cal http://www.american-armynavy.com/ammocan.htm Flat rate shipping of $6.95 - so order a bunch or the shipping will get you. I see they are now 7.98 aand 5.98 - watch for sales. Edited January 24, 2007 by StarBrand Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
It's getting a lot harder since Cheaperthandirt and Cabelas stopped selling the 6 pack of .30 cals for $19. I should have stocked up when I had the chance . Quote Link to comment
+spazz191
I saw these Plastic or whatever they are made of ammo cans on Bass Pro. Plano Ammo Cans. Does anyone have experience with these, they are only 6.88 Quote Link to comment
+Team Perks
I bought 44 of the 30-cal's on eBay for $2 apiece plus shipping. The shipping costs (from Virginia to California) brought the cost up to a little over $4 per can. Not a phenomenal bargain but still cheaper than I could find anywhere else. Quote Link to comment

+barkbox
Has anyone bought from this place? Not me, but I like the looks of the Rocket Box for a large cache. I think I remember the Michigan Geocaching Organization putting out a statement asking its members to refrain from using ammo cans since they can cause problems when found by non-cachers. This sucks since IMHO ammo cans are best suited for this activity. I'm sick of encountering waterloggded contents in Glad Ware containers. Getting off topic, so I'll just leave it at that. +mikeslomka
A friend of mine got a whole pallet of them for next to nothing at a gunshow. He said that have them all the time, and the more that you buy, the cheaper they get. The scary part is, he bought them BEFORE he started caching. Quote Link to comment

So can Tupperware and film canisters cause problems. Use common sense when hiding ammo boxes and label them clearly as geocaches and there should be no problem. I can't believe all the ones I've found with the military markings still on them, sometimes in popular parks. Dumb idea. But ammo boxes in the woods? I rarely use anything else. I don't recall a blanket statement like that (I believe MiGO's president even buys them in bulk and sells them cheap), though certain parks here do require transparent containers. Lock-and-Locks seem to be the container of choice in those cases. The caches that the DNR has been placing have been ammo cans. Edited January 25, 2007 by Dinoprophet Quote Link to comment
+WRITE SHOP ROBERT
Beatty, NV ...and you can go caching on the way there, and once you get there too! Quote Link to comment

GermanSailor
Hi, at Gunshows you get them for usually around $5 for the bigger .50 cal cans. One store here in Jacksonville is closing down and I just bought 4 cans for $21. GermanSailor Quote Link to comment
