+sTeamTraen Posted January 24, 2007 Share Posted January 24, 2007 The article is written in a very misleading way; unless you examine it very closely you could easily imagine that "any" GPS system allows you to be tracked. I already have enough trouble explaining to people that the satellites don't know where you are. Presumably the thieves drove away with the GPS receiver *and* the transponder still switched on. Mind you, I know of a Dutch cacher whose house got burgled and his regular Garmin GPSr was nicked... the thieves cycled away with it switched on, and when the police caught up with them, their getaway path was visible as a breadcrumb trail from his house to theirs, which made it kind of hard to deny where they'd been!
