+wrz0170
Couple of questions on Mapsource Tops US. I know there is a some discontent with the software because of a lack of detail. Through lurking, I learned it's either you like it or you don't. I would love to see an example. We go out west to Western Nevada at least once or twice a year. I was wondering if someone could be so kind to give a "snapshot" pic of Marlette Lake, N39 09.829 W119 54.150. My second question is: Are you able to make hard prints of the maps that you bring up through this software? Thanks! Quote Link to comment

+jeffrey.bean
I just received mapsource US topo version 3.02, and it states " provides terrain contour and elevation information". I have yet to be able to find it though. All I seem to have is a base map. Quote Link to comment

+wrz0170
Wow. You can really see a difference in detail. Garmin almost looks cartoonish. Has anyone emailed Garmin with example pics of their Topo US and that of their competitors? Surely they can see they are missing the boat and have lots of room for improvement. GARMIN: MAGELLAN: Quote Link to comment

GARMIN: MAGELLAN: Maybe, but if I were caching from N to S along the west side of Marlette Lake, I'd sure as heck want to know that I'd have to wade across 2 or three potentially large streams! In fact, Mapsend missed the reservoir. Also, I'm guessing the additional contour lines are interpolated - I'd prefer the additional info layers on the Garmin (plus, the upper map is easier on my old eyes...) Quote Link to comment
