+themannclan Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 .........and joy tried to find our first two gc's at the weekend and got absolutely nowhere !!!!!!!!!!! followed all the clues on a multi cache and then found the area we thought we needed was locked off - sent an email to the cache creator just for info - on the second one again we thought we were correct but only found a small pencil - it was a micro cache - so emailed the owner about that as well - it was probably us getting it wrong but you never know... the joy - took a stroll tonight to a very local cache and found it !!! how can something so simple put such a smile on your face i took a TB, LadyGorf, which i am about to update, as well as the cache log. heading NW this weekend so hope to drop her off up there. etiquette question - i took the TB but didn't leave anything - is this correct ? Edgemaster Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Yep, that's fine. TBs are free to move without being swapped, they are not swap items that 'belong' to the cache. Quote

+Travers Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 That's absolutely fine - travel bugs and coins have specific missions and are not generally considered part of the stuff to exchange. One thing I would say though is that some containers are small and when a TB is removed it may look kind of empty so it's nice to leave one of your swaps just to replenish it - obviously your choice though. SNAKEBITER Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 I had a cache over the Xmas period where there was meant to be a Geocoin but it wasn't there. The cache still indicates it is there. What happens in a situation like that? Quote

What happens in a situation like that? Either the cache-owner or the coin owner can mark it as missing. If it turns up again, the finder can grab it from the Twilight Zone. Quote
+themannclan Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 hi thanks for the responses. no i didn't take the cache log but i can see how it looks that way!! the cache was pretty full of things - definately didn't look empty without lady gorf Quote
+chizu Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Thanks Chizu No problem - I just wish it was a feature that didn't have to be used so often! Quote
+Firth of Forth Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I had a cache over the Xmas period where there was meant to be a Geocoin but it wasn't there. The cache still indicates it is there. What happens in a situation like that? In my view, it's best not to be too hasty to do this. Sometimes cachers can't remember which cache they put a TB in - or get them mixed up. Sometimes the TB has been taken by someone who is on holdaiy and it may be a while before they can update the logs. It's often the case that the TB turns up somewhere else later on. Quote
+Jimblonduk Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 We had a similar experience recently, picked up a TB but when we came to logging it, it hadnt been placed in the cache. We emailed the recorded holder after a week as we were ready to move it on and recieved a very apologetic response as the holder had thought he'd lost it in the wild. Thankfully it's back on track Quote
