sk8board
I am looking for a USB-to-serial adapter for my eTrex Legend. I have read that not all adapters work with GPS's. From what little research I have done, it looks like www.pfranc.com is guaranteed to work. But I don't want to spend $30. So what is a good value for an adapter that is guaranteed to work? I am using Window XP Home on my laptop. Quote Link to comment

I think only you can assign a value to a guarantee to work. I bought an el cheap usb-serial deal off eBay for something like $8 shipped. Works fine. Quote Link to comment
+wickedsprint
I got mine at Radio Shack and it also works fine. Quote Link to comment
Dale_Lynn
Almost all USB/Serial adapters use same chip set.... Cost should not be an issue.... My cheap $14 over the counter works just fine.... Just REMEMBER to load driver before attempting to use... Dale Quote Link to comment
segler999
This is critical. Install the driver B E F O R E ever connecting the adapter cable to the computer. Quote Link to comment
+NightPilot
I have a cheap Belkin adapter that works just fine with my Legend, and with my Palm, and everything else I've tried it with. Quote Link to comment
