The new Sarnia~Lambton Geocoin

Along with Wallace & Gromit we've had a geocoin minted for the Sarnia~Lambton area of Ontario, Canada. It is the first of what we intend to be a "Geocaching In Bluewaterland" series of coins.

The front of the coin has the city crest of Sarnia, Ontario while the back has a representation of the

Bluewater International Bridge which joins the "Bluewater" regions of Ontario and Michigan.

The coin is 45mm diameter and 3.5mm thick. It is trackable on Geocaching.com of course and has it's own icon on their site.

The coins are being sold for $9.00 + $2.00 S&H.

PayPal is being accepted. Please contact Wallace & Gromit at ddennis11@cogeco.ca for more info.

Thanks for your interest.

I should have noted in my original post that the price of the coins is in Canadian funds. That works out to about US$9.25 per coin which includes S&H.

Honestly, we're geocachers, not business people and we're just trying to break even on our geocoin.

I feel bad about any confusion my inexperience might have caused.

Well, at $9 a coin ( US or Canadian ) you will most certainly "break even",

Ya , you're right -- we're making a fortune from this coin . The supplier made them for free , the post office doesn't charge anything to mail them out , PayPal waived their fees , the local shop gives us free packing material and the banks don't take a cut on the US / Canadian exchange rates . We're planning on taking all those profits and going out for a smack-up supper at McDonald's when this is all done .

$9.00USD + shippig. To high for me.

Can remember a time when people flamed costs and ideas which where not even in production by some people.

Now when a cacher tries to attempt to only recoup their costs in Canadian currency they get flamed by the same people...

Play nice people or you will reep what you sow.

I can tell you this a great looking coins and a lot of work has gone into this coin to make it a keeper.

Good Job...I know I bought two!

Well, since you and the OP seem to be new to these forums ( small # of posts ) I can tell you that most people here know what it costs to make a geocoin. I'm not saying that you can't make money on it but don't try to shovel the "We're just breaking even." line at us, we know better.

Then I shall yield to your vast experience , and leave you with a suggestion . Don't buy one -- and forget it .

I was commenting on the price of the coin which to my defence was high. It is still high but much more reasonable. When I typed me comments there was nothing that indicated it was Canadian dollars as there is now.

My comment was nice "9.00+s/h was to high"

I hope I do reep what I sow. Polite and to the point.

Which really is not out of line with other recent coins, in fact, less than:

Geopelli - $8.50 + shipping

Hawaii Volcanoes - $8.40 + shipping

Casino - $9.50 + shipping.

Not slamming the 3 coins mentioned, just using them as references, they are all nice coins, as is the one being discussed here.
