TrailGators
It looks like a group of us may be headed to Tucson around the end of February. We would love to spend our time finding the best caches that Tucson has to offer. Our favorite types of caches are the ones that take you to the coolest locations. So what have you got Tucson?! 2oldfarts (the rockhounders)
We're not from Tucson so can't offer any help. However, if you decide to head to the Lake Powell area at the other end of the state, we can sure offer some great places to hunt for caches. John Quote Link to comment
TucsonThompsen
Well...there is a broad range of caches for all types of cachers here. Some of the finest and most challenging hike-to caches are a short distance away. IMO, the best puzzles in AZ can be found about and in the Old Pueblo. And of course, the ubiquitous number-pumping urban micros are not lost out here. Some good overall representative ones in Tucson I think are (in no particular order): Petroglyphs and Rocks in Arraste Wash (GCJ5T7) Evergreen's Stories (GCGAG3) Bad Poetry (GCYE51) Sand Trout (GCJTGA) Buggy (GCHJ0A) School of Rock (GCQ76D) Pretty View Cache (GC5999) Pontatoc View (GCHVFW) Le Chiffre Indechiffrable (GCEA37) Memento (GCHFMA) Tumamoc Hill (GCB03F) Padre a los Indios (GCMGGG) Oni (GCVPHN) Swords into Plowshares (GCGWJ4) Giggles (GCHB6V) Goes to Eleven (GCW8VW) Penguins in Sonora (GCBFD5) Wasson Peak (GCCCB2) Looking forward to seeing you all out here. --TT-- Quote Link to comment

W5IEM
I am both new to Tucson and to Geocaching, so this thread is great. Going to try a few this weekend... ALostTexan Quote Link to comment
Explorer99
I had planned to escape the snow here in Colorado and do some caching in Tucson about 10 days ago but then you got snow. Now I'm going to try to get down there in a couple of weeks and will use your list of caches as a guide. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Vegas Gamblers
Happy we checked here. We will be in the Phoenix/Tucson area for Spring Training the first week of March. It will be our first time ever in the area and plan to combine caching and baseball in a six day period. SNOW.....well it has to be better than -2 degrees and snow that we have here right now. Thanks for the post of caches. Quote Link to comment
FamilyIso
Excellent list. Thank you. We are in Tucson right now for the 3rd time in 4 weeks. This time it is on vacation. Hit a couple of caches near Eloy today. Going to do some urban caching tomorrow in Phoenix then off to Tombstone & Bisbee. Quote Link to comment
hydnsek
Bump! I will be in Tucson for some caching and an orienteering meet this next week (Feb 21-25), and want to thank y'all for the great list! I looked at the local AZ site, but couldn't easily find a list of 'best' caches, so this thread is extremely helpful. Quote Link to comment
Zolgar
I'd like to add a few to that list: Old Man of the Mountain. It's a fairly easy hike, but a cool view. Go Army, Beat Navy. A bit of a climb, but the view of the tucson area makes it worth it. When BwarRoo and I went for that one, I commented (from right atop the cache, ironically (further irony, I didn't find it, he did)) "I'll be happy even if this is a DNF" (If you do this one, be sure to hit Fossilized hat pins, it's really close) Monkey-a-round. It's a super easy find. But it's a funny one. (and it's right on the way to Old Man of the Mountain) Also, even though I've not found it myself yet (may have gotten the info wrong), Courage, Service, Country. It's a good excuse to visit the Korean War memorial. sorry for not having the numbers for them. Quote Link to comment
ShadowAce
I have a hard time pimping my own caches, I hope others will do that for me. [] On that note, I pimp..... Evergreen Stories. A bit of a time effort is required, but I have taken many many a visitor to this area and none have ever complained. Silny even came out to greet one of my tourists from Hawaii. Quote Link to comment
