Dragonmaster13
Just put in some new Energizer 2300Mah rechargeable NiMH batteries and they last about a half hour then the unit just shuts off. Have changed the setting to Nimh also. ANy idea why it is saying they are daed after half hour (usually less) and turning itself off? Quote Link to comment

Overcharging can permanently damage a cell, causing it to not hold a charge. A good charging unit will detect this, and indicate the cell is bad. Quote Link to comment
planewood
Run those new rechargeables through 3 or 4 charging cycles. Quote Link to comment
Dragonmaster13
Brand new batteries with new charger. Batts were fully charge and discharged a few times, but I'm going to run them hard in my rc car again for a few charge cycles and see if that fixes them Quote Link to comment
+Prime Suspect
While it's true that it takes about 10 discharge/recharge cycles for NiMH batteries to reach full capacity, only getting a half hour's use after a charge is indicative of some other problem. Quote Link to comment
+roadrage64
I had the same exact problem with my Vista C, twice, and it didn't matter what kind of batteries were in it. To their credit, Garmin did replace both units at no charge, so for your sake I hope it's still under warranty. Quote Link to comment
Isaiah 40:31
This sounds unusual. I have a Vista CX and get 10 hours, yes TEN hours with backlight at highest on Energizer 2500 mah NiMh. Quote Link to comment
Dragonmaster13
Alkaline batt's in legend cx working fine, Nimh in other device work fine, going to run them as noted above and try again. If it doesn't work I'l just get some new batteries again. Quote Link to comment
