dgc808
Hi all, I am in the process of trying to get Tomtom Navigator 5 running on my pocket pc, to get to cache area's. I was just wondering if anyone else uses Tomtom in this way and if the have a Favourite Tomtom (Celebrity) voice that they use on their Tomtom ? Not exactly a geocaching topic i know ! But what the heck ! Cheers DGC808 Quote Link to comment
Father Jack
I used Ozzy for a while but just sticking with Jane for the mo Quote Link to comment
Bear and Ragged
Jane, UK English. But she doesn't half choose some strange routes to the cache, on occasions! G Quote Link to comment
Skate and Jane
At the end of the day Jane has the clearest voice (both of them ). Sometimes use Yoda as well. Quote Link to comment
The Blorenges
I used Ozzy for a while but just sticking with Jane for the mo We found he had a good nose for direction, but the excited yapping and barking as we neared the cache location became a bit annoying. MrsB Quote Link to comment
Matrix
Been through most of the voices including celebrities but lways come back to Jane Although if Sally Traffic from Radio 2 could be persuaded to record the voices I would switch immediately Quote Link to comment
Munkeh
I used Ozzy for a while but just sticking with Jane for the mo We found he had a good nose for direction, but the excited yapping and barking as we neared the cache location became a bit annoying. MrsB are you sure that was attributed to the voice and not one of the users Edited January 6, 2007 by lost it Quote Link to comment
The Wombles
John Cleese. His occasional comments brighten up the journey, for example "Bear Left.......Beaver Right". Quote Link to comment
Birdman-of-liskatraz
If it's turning into - Which voice would you like on your TomTom... I'd go for a soft Female Irish voice.... Oh the days I hoped a Dell Laptop would fail at work so I could call the Technical support girls in Dublin.... We were also saying only this week it would be kind of fun to have a Cornish voice.... "Turn left dreckly".... or a Mother in Law Backseat Driver one "You should have turned left 200 yards back - See I told you...." (With all due respects to the only Mum in Law I've ever had... She was/is lovely) Quote Link to comment
The Great Redmondo
We use 'Yoda' simply because of the order in which he constructs his sentances e.g 'Right you must turn'. This ensures that you hear which direction you are going just as early as is possible - this can sometimes make a significant difference to whether you miss a junction or not. Quote Link to comment

I thought you used a German in the back seat for missing turnings Quote Link to comment
HazelS
Jane gets my vote every time... I used to laugh at Ozzy Osborne every time I went out caching with Father Jack, but in the end it REALLY wore thin! Quote Link to comment
*mouse*
I have to change it depending who else is in the car - my mum's got a soft spot for Ken and my mate likes Tim but I prefer John Cleese..... Quote Link to comment
Tiger-Eyes
I use John Cleese, "Sharp Right ooooo" the girls keep telling me to go the wrong way so they can here the "turn around when possible" Quote Link to comment
Carlos & The Birdie Crew
Ok nobody has yet mentioned the best one...... The one that says "You've reached yer destination! GROOVY DRIVING, YEAH!" It is of course Austin Powers and gets my vote. Carlos Quote Link to comment
Gralorn
OK..............One has to ask where can I obtain the cheapest copy to place on my PDA. Sounds a great piece of kit and if it gets one to suggested parking really useful. Quote Link to comment
wizard1974uk
I use "The Voice of God" Quote Link to comment
Us 4 and Jess
We have been Yoda for quite sometime now for caching locally, but if we are travelling a long way we go back to boring old Jane Quote Link to comment
Sensei TSKC
I refuse to use Jane as, for some reason, I find it ironic having a woman telling me where to go!! <Ducks down, dons kevlar jacket, leggings and hat> Quote Link to comment
Norwegian Blue
I'm trying to learn Tagalog as I work with a lot of Filipinos so that's the one for me. But it's John Cleese if I don't know where I'm going. Mrs NB insists on Sharon Osborne but I find her voice so infuriating that I switch back to plain Jane whenever I can. Quote Link to comment
Alboy
can't believe noone else has yet gone for Joanna Lumley "You have reached your desitination...darling" is perfect! Quote Link to comment
TMM-Sarah
I use Ken as Jane goes straight through me..... I have yet to try Yoda but will have to have a search on the net for him later on. I do have Svenis but his "errrr, errr, errr, errr" all the time used to drive me around the bend Quote Link to comment
Nellies Knackers
Roger Mellie from the viz magazine is good for a laugh and fairly clear too, you do have to take a lot of abuse though. Quote Link to comment
scaw
if i ever figure out how to put them on my tomtom on my pda will try another voice Quote Link to comment
Bruin47
For me it definately has to be one of the Female Americans. Probibly Mandy. I love the direction to go "Right at the Rotory" Quote Link to comment
Gralorn
In a Joanna Lumley voice I feel, " Tom Tom Navigator 6, software and GB Maps preloaded onto 512 mb mini sd card (sd adapter included) next day delivery £64.63 inc VAT" 'Could there be a better offer anywhere 'Darlings?' Quote Link to comment
studlyone
Plane Jane for me usually unless the kids are in the car and then they insist on Arnold Swarzenegger - that really wears thin very quickly I can tell you, its just too slow. I might have to try to Homer one next. Quote Link to comment
