I think I've found a way to get the Geocaching Stat Bar on a MySpace page, could any MySpace user please check out my page -

http://www.myspace.com/lakeuk

and confirm the following:-

1) That you can see the Stat Bar

2) When you right click on it what menu do you see - I see a quicktime menu

3) Finally add yourselve to my Myspace friends list - I've only got one friend at the moment (Tom) and he has 143million friends

code I used :-

<embed src="http://img.geocaching.com/stats/img.aspx?txt=Let's+go+geocaching&uid=98551b02-0db1-41ff-a9ec-b9e4c557006c&bg=1" border="0" title="Profile for lakeuk" alt="Profile for lakeuk" width="200" height="50"></embed>

I am seeing the quicktime when I right clicked, it took a couple trys of left/right clicking to get it. That rocks you got it to work! does it update correctly or is it just a snapshot?

added you to my friends btw. <_<

Thanks

Looking at mine, it's updated with the cache I did today

Not got it clickable to my geocache profile working yet

just wanted to say it took a bit of messing around to figure it all out, but i got it working too. Yup, confirming that it does update correctly too. And no, it doesnt link when clicked.

Thanks SO much for figuring out how to add it!! this info should be added somewhere to a FAQ for others to use.

o.k., I can't make it work. I have looked at the coding from everyone's myspace (that wasn't set to private) and I cannot figure it out. The only thing I can figure is that I got the wrong # for my account in geocaching. What I did was go to http://www.cacherstats.com/Michigan2.html and then I clicked on my current stats. Then I right clicked on the stat box. That is where I got my account info. The only difference I see is that at the end of all of your #'s, it ends with &bg. So, I added that and I still get Signal the frog. If you check out my site, http:www.myspace.com/rltrimble you'll see I don't play with this stuff much so, what am I missing?

woohoo. Got lil devils tool to work after figuring out the GUID thingy!!!

I'll be happy to document that part better on my page if someone has a suggestion. <_<

I think it's probably pretty easy.

it is the series of numbers and letters after the letters "guid=" that appear in the box that gc.com provides on their stat bar page. I just highlighted everything after "guid=" to the close quotes, and apparently I guessed correctly.

How about just having people paste in the entire URL then use a little bit of javascript to extract the GUID for them? It would probably be easier to explain.
