You can search under no coach as well. I am guessing that penn state did not have a coach for a short time in 87'-88'

Poor old Joe Bedenk (1949) is missing from the Coaches drop down list on the Penn State site.

Joe shows up if you search the 1949 season so they haven't muggled him completely.

We searched Penn State's web site and they do list him on another page as a coach -- just not in their database of football coaches. Poor Joe.

Go to http://www.psu.edu/sports/football/history/ and click the Get Info button for Year by Year records. Count the coaches on that list and you get 14. The drop down menu lists only 13. Someone at Penn State needs to update their web site so that the lists are in agreement. Joe Bedenk is listed on the Get Info list.

Well, technically it's...15. But not officially.

 

Tom Bradley took over for Joe this year on two occasions. Joe had to run to the locker room and "change pants" during the OSU game. But during the Wisconsin game, he got his leg rolled up on (broken) and was actually carted off the field. Bradley took over and then coached the team the next week against Temple as Joe stayed at home per doctor's orders.
