tossedsalad
I have now ordered a few units from them for where I work. Communication isn't the best, but everything has always showed up in a timely manner with no problems. Well that is certainly encouraging and if everything goes smoothly and in a timely fashion then I will certainly post a positive experience here. I find it interesting that egami seems to be a staunch supporter of crazy william in spite of all the evidence showing they are *not* a reputable dealer. Sure, they may have had unexpected problems with servers around the holidays and they may have gotten a bum rap or two, but the fact remains that the overall experience of a huge number of customers has been overwhelmingly negative. Sure, egami may have had only positive experiences with these guys. My experience has shown that you should consider as much more important, how a retailer responds when there *is* a problem rather the mere fact that you placed an order with no problem. If you buy enough things online eventually you will have a problem. With the track record of crazy william showing that he is unresponsive and unwilling to fix any problems, why would you consider ordering from him? If you order from this guy repeatedly, the info shows that evenuatally it will be a problem. I did some checking and I did not even find where his prices were the lowest. The units I checked were all a bit higher than the lowest seller on bizrate. I also looked them up on www.resellerratings.com and he has an very negative rating there as well with the most recent less than a month ago. As a comparison check out www.newegg.com. People can't say enough good things about newegg, so the reviews are not exclusive to complainers. So why take a risk with a company like this when there are others out there with lower prices and/or better reputations? Quote Link to comment
+Difranco
It's been 8 days since I ordered my Unit. My credit card has been billed. I have sent two nice emails without response and have not recieved any shipping/tracking information. I will wait until end of day Wednesday, if I recieve nothing (gps unit or email response) by then I will be calling my credit card company to back off the charges. If I get to that point I will do my part and write negative feedback and contacting their local/national BBB and filing a complaint. Edited May 7, 2007 by Difranco Quote Link to comment

+Difranco
Well I tried calling the phone number on their website and it rings a few times then voice messaging picks up. The outgoing message (middle aged female voice) goes something like this: "You've reached 847 841 1468 this is not the number for GPS Crazy so please do not leave a message for GPS Crazy. Thank you." Yet this is the info on their website and included on their order confirmation email: GPS Crazy, Inc. 468 Telluride Drive Gilberts, IL 60136 CustomerService@GPSCrazy.com (847)841-1468 If I do not recieve anything from UPS/Fedex/USPS/DHL by 6pm this evening, I will be calling my credit card customer service (24hr service imagine that) and having the charges reversed by tomorrow. I have no reason, however, to discredit someones reputation when I personally have dealth with them on a few different transactions and have encountered no major problems. Not to mention that the research I did showed several errors in complaints people reported early in the thread coupled with the fact that they had a high e-bay rating. I didnt have any "finds" in my profile before I started posting here; questioning GPSCrazy's business practices. But its hard to have any finds if the company you ordered your GPS from doesnt send it to you; especially if you are just getting started. +creagerstonefamily
Eh, even "reputable" companies like GPSCity can suck. They're in my backyard and I met a guy who used to work there through caching. Great guy, but I think he moved on. They used to have a "Low Price Guarantee". It was all over their webpage, but when I presented them with a shopping cart print out from an authorized Magellan dealer that was selling DirectRoute for $50 cheaper, the rep refused to sell it for that price. Just flat out refused and said "We won't honor that.". There wasn't any debate about the other company being an authorized dealer or anything. It sounded like they already knew about them. They eventually removed it from their website, but didn't have the balls to honor their advertising at the time. Then, there was the time when I asked them to swap out a RAM Mount 4" suction cup since mine had failed after two years on my windshield. I needed to buy a couple more RAM Mount parts (about $40 worth) and it would've been a total courtesy on their part. They probably had a hundred of them in the back, but I received a very curt "SIR, WE DON'T MANUFACTURE THAT AND DON'T HAVE TO WARRANTY IT. YOU'LL NEED TO TAKE IT UP WITH THEM." I just asked, I didn't demand. I cancelled the order and those jerks won't get another penny from me. Quote Link to comment

So far, so good. 5/13/07 Still no GPS delivery or email from GPS Crazy explaining the delay in delivery. 5/13/07 We emailed GPS Crazy requesting the status of our order, which was by now well over 2 weeks. 5/13/07 We received an automated reply that a customer service representative would contact us within 24 hours. (They never did.) 5/15/07 We called the customer service phone number listed on the GPS Crazy email. A voice recording stated that the phone number did not belong to GPS Crazy. 5/15/07 We emailed GPS Crazy one more time asking for an order status. We instantly received another automated reply that a customer service representative would contact us within 24 hours. (Again, we've never heard back from them.) 5/15/07 We called our credit card company and explained the situation. Our credit card company issued a temporary credit while they investigate the situation. 5/16/07 We ordered a Garmin 60CSX from PCNation and happily received our new GPS within 3 business days. We will certainly never order anything again from GPS Crazy. TeamFROG Quote Link to comment

I won't bore everyone with my scenario - my situation is very similar to Teamfrog's. I have tried contacting them through their eBay account as well as by phone and e-mail with no response. Also I contacted Garmin and the following is the reply from them. Dear Sir, Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I am happy to assist you. GPS Crazy is an authorized “reseller” of Garmin products. They are authorized to sell refurbished Garmin devices. They are not an authorized retailer of “new” Garmin products. That does not mean they cannot sell them, it just means they do not receive them from us but through a separate authorized distributor. We have no means of providing you with any different contact information. If the problem is with your Garmin device we are happy to see what we can do to assist you. +Mudfrog
I haven't ordered from GPS Crazy, so i won't try to give solid advice on what a person should do. But, i can offer my opinion as to what i would do. First off, i'm starting to look into replacing my Garmin 76s so i am glad to see threads like this. There are way too many of the same problems popping up in this thread to not take them seriously. Charges to credit cards, non delivery of merchandise, and no customer service are the 3 strikes that takes them out. Second, according to a post above, they are authorized to sell refurbished units, not new. Refurbished might be ok if the price is about half of a new unit but i sure can't see taking a chance on one if not. While they might sell new (not authorized by Garmin and not sure how the warranty works), who knows what you might be getting if you did order from these people. In otherwords, again my opinon, if you have read this thread then you would be crazy, pardon the pun, to even think about ordering from these people. I know that i would certainly spread the word to anyone i knew who was thinking about buying... Quote Link to comment

The bad thing about it is, it appears that more often than not, people buy pay without researching first. When i was looking, i came upon their site.
