I have now ordered a few units from them for where I work. Communication isn't the best, but everything has always showed up in a timely manner with no problems.

Well that is certainly encouraging and if everything goes smoothly and in a timely fashion then I will certainly post a positive experience here.

I find it interesting that egami seems to be a staunch supporter of crazy william in spite of all the evidence showing they are *not* a reputable dealer. Sure, they may have had unexpected problems with servers around the holidays and they may have gotten a bum rap or two, but the fact remains that the overall experience of a huge number of customers has been overwhelmingly negative.

Sure, egami may have had only positive experiences with these guys. My experience has shown that you should consider as much more important, how a retailer responds when there *is* a problem rather the mere fact that you placed an order with no problem. If you buy enough things online eventually you will have a problem. With the track record of crazy william showing that he is unresponsive and unwilling to fix any problems, why would you consider ordering from him? If you order from this guy repeatedly, the info shows that evenuatally it will be a problem.

I did some checking and I did not even find where his prices were the lowest. The units I checked were all a bit higher than the lowest seller on bizrate. I also looked them up on www.resellerratings.com and he has an very negative rating there as well with the most recent less than a month ago. As a comparison check out www.newegg.com. People can't say enough good things about newegg, so the reviews are not exclusive to complainers.

So why take a risk with a company like this when there are others out there with lower prices and/or better reputations?

It's been 8 days since I ordered my Unit. My credit card has been billed. I have sent two nice emails without response and have not recieved any shipping/tracking information. I will wait until end of day Wednesday, if I recieve nothing (gps unit or email response) by then I will be calling my credit card company to back off the charges. If I get to that point I will do my part and write negative feedback and contacting their local/national BBB and filing a complaint.

Please keep us informed as it may help future buyers on their quest for new GPSr's.

Well I tried calling the phone number on their website and it rings a few times then voice messaging picks up. The outgoing message (middle aged female voice) goes something like this:

"You've reached 847 841 1468 this is not the number for GPS Crazy so please do not leave a message for GPS Crazy. Thank you."

Yet this is the info on their website and included on their order confirmation email:

GPS Crazy, Inc.

468 Telluride Drive

Gilberts, IL 60136

CustomerService@GPSCrazy.com

(847)841-1468

If I do not recieve anything from UPS/Fedex/USPS/DHL by 6pm this evening, I will be calling my credit card customer service (24hr service imagine that) and having the charges reversed by tomorrow.

To Whomever it may concern,

Since emails have gone totally unresponsive and the phone number provided in this email does not belong to GPS Crazy, I am emailing to cancel this order. As my credit card has been charged, no shipping or tracking information has been provided; I have called my credit card company to reverse the charges. I have also filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission for your deceptive marketing practices as well as with several other online business rating systems.

Don't forget to contact the maker of the gsp brand you were ordering. Might help get their authorization to sell that brand.

One of the concerns i had with this company is that they claimed to be an authorized seller of almost every brand GPS. I asked for proof of this (like a contact from each company to verify) and none was ever given.

I did call one GPS company to confirm this. They denied it.

These last few posts prompted me to look at the profile of gpscrazy.com wondering why William hasn't come back to defend his operation again. I find it odd that his most recent response was:

He's coming directly to the forum webpage, not logging in on GC.com first. The main website and the forums are run on different servers. I want to know how an account like "gpscrazy.com", which is obviously created just to pimp his company, has been allowed to keep posting in the forums anyway. Usually commercial posters are killed pretty quick around here. Since he has never logged a cache and hasn't even logged into the site since shortly after creating his account, it seems pretty obvious his only purpose here is to discuss his company.

Sorry about your luck.

I have no reason, however, to discredit someones reputation when I personally have dealth with them on a few different transactions and have encountered no major problems. Not to mention that the research I did showed several errors in complaints people reported early in the thread coupled with the fact that they had a high e-bay rating.

I didn't say I "recommend" them. I didn't say I "support" them. I am simply giving my personal experience which you seem to want to discredit based on your single experience.

That sucks...they must be really having some ongoing issues internally. Of all things...you need to have good communication.

Did you try contacting them via e-bay? I had better luck that route. Not that it matters now.

I believe it. I ordered my 76CSx from PCNation.com and received it the next day. They had a special that day, overnight shipping for only $9.95. I was very happy with their service.

PCNation order arrived today. This is awesome and already found my first Geocache. However, I think I'm going to need more than the basemap.

Well, a human might be easier to find in your Search-N-Rescue missions.

I have boughten GPSrs form GPSDiscount.com and never had a problem. I ordered it with free shipping and did not encounter any problems. On the second business day, it was at my doorstep. I know two people that have boughten from them and had the same experience that I did.

Did you get a refund from CrazyGPS?

My credit card company temporarily backed off the charges and is waiting a response from the retailer or in their words:

"Thank you for providing us with the necessary information

we requested. We have issued a conditional credit to

your account and have forwarded the details of your dispute

to the merchant. We will notify you of their response

within 65 days. Thank you for your patience in this matter."

I dont understand where you are going with this. You have found no caches under this account and all you appear to be doing is bashing GPSCrazy. Why? What is the reasoning?

If you have legitimate information that would be helpful to other users then share. If you point is just to bash then please stop. It doesn't help anyone. Its basically another form of spam.

My point is not to bash but to warn others away, to save them the same problems many of us are having. Ordering GPS units, Paying for them, and never seeing anything in return. Emails go unanswered, and the phone number on there site does not belong to them.

I didnt have any "finds" in my profile before I started posting here; questioning GPSCrazy's business practices. But its hard to have any finds if the company you ordered your GPS from doesnt send it to you; especially if you are just getting started.

I think his point is that if he ordered a product from a particular company; they billed but did not deliver merchandise. That in and of itself is valuable information.

Eh, even "reputable" companies like GPSCity can suck. They're in my backyard and I met a guy who used to work there through caching. Great guy, but I think he moved on.

They used to have a "Low Price Guarantee". It was all over their webpage, but when I presented them with a shopping cart print out from an authorized Magellan dealer that was selling DirectRoute for $50 cheaper, the rep refused to sell it for that price. Just flat out refused and said "We won't honor that.". There wasn't any debate about the other company being an authorized dealer or anything. It sounded like they already knew about them. They eventually removed it from their website, but didn't have the balls to honor their advertising at the time.

Then, there was the time when I asked them to swap out a RAM Mount 4" suction cup since mine had failed after two years on my windshield. I needed to buy a couple more RAM Mount parts (about $40 worth) and it would've been a total courtesy on their part. They probably had a hundred of them in the back, but I received a very curt "SIR, WE DON'T MANUFACTURE THAT AND DON'T HAVE TO WARRANTY IT. YOU'LL NEED TO TAKE IT UP WITH THEM." I just asked, I didn't demand.

I cancelled the order and those jerks won't get another penny from me.

Here is our experience with GPS Crazy  :

4/21/07 We placed an online order from GPS Crazy for a Garmin 60CSX and our credit card was charged the same day.

4/21/07 We received an order confirmation promising delivery in 3 to 7 days. So far, so good.

5/13/07 Still no GPS delivery or email from GPS Crazy explaining the delay in delivery. :tired:

5/13/07 We emailed GPS Crazy requesting the status of our order, which was by now well over 2 weeks.

5/13/07 We received an automated reply that a customer service representative would contact us within 24 hours. (They never did.)

5/15/07 We called the customer service phone number listed on the GPS Crazy email. A voice recording stated that the phone number did not belong to GPS Crazy. :P

5/15/07 We emailed GPS Crazy one more time asking for an order status. We instantly received another automated reply that a customer service representative would contact us within 24 hours. (Again, we've never heard back from them.)

5/15/07 We called our credit card company and explained the situation. Our credit card company issued a temporary credit while they investigate the situation.

5/16/07 We ordered a Garmin 60CSX from PCNation and happily received our new GPS within 3 business days. :anicute:

We will certainly never order anything again from GPS Crazy.

Sorry to hear about your troubles TeamFrog... by the looks of it, I could have written your version of events myself.

Anyway here is the email I sent to Garmin:

Inquiry:

Is GPSCrazy.com (a.k.a. BN Electronics) an authorized reseller of GarminGPS Units?

I recently tried to purchase one of your units through them. Only afterbeing charged on my credit card and never recieving a product did Idiscover that contact information on their website is a fiction. Anyand all email inquiries go unanswered. Thought you might want to know that one of your resellers is damaging the reputation of the "Authorized Reseller" branding.

Sincerely,

Difranco

PS.. I ordered and recieved my unit from PCNation.com after filing adispute with the CC company. I love my new GPS Unit!

Here is Garmin's Response to my email:

Thank You for contacting Garmin International, Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We willinvestigate the situation and take appropriate actions to hopefullyprevent this from occurring again. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us.

I am a new member here and only found this resource while trying to locate additional contact information for GPSCrazy. I won't bore everyone with my scenario - my situation is very similar to Teamfrog's.

I have tried contacting them through their eBay account as well as by phone and e-mail with no response.

My complaint that is filed with the Illinois BBB expires today (they have until today to respond to us - I'm not holding my breath).

If anyone else is thinking of buying from them, I would caution against it.

Link to comment

Well I also filed with the BBB they emailed that they failed to respond to 2 letters so far.

Also I contacted Garmin and the following is the reply from them.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I am happy to assist you. GPS Crazy is an authorized “reseller” of Garmin products. They are authorized to sell refurbished Garmin devices. They are not an authorized retailer of “new” Garmin products. That does not mean they cannot sell them, it just means they do not receive them from us but through a separate authorized distributor. We have no means of providing you with any different contact information.

If the problem is with your Garmin device we are happy to see what we can do to assist you.

On 5/15/07 my credit card company issued me a temporary credit for the GPS I ordered (but never received) from GPS Crazy. I checked with my credit card company today to get an update on the status of their investigation. The credit card company stated they have not received ANY communication from GPS Crazy in response to their investigation of my dispute. Therefore, as of today the investigation has been closed and I have been given a permanent credit.

I don't know the details of your situation, but you may want to seriously consider contacting your credit card company and issue a dispute on the charges.

Good luck!

I haven't ordered from GPS Crazy, so i won't try to give solid advice on what a person should do. But, i can offer my opinion as to what i would do.

First off, i'm starting to look into replacing my Garmin 76s so i am glad to see threads like this. There are way too many of the same problems popping up in this thread to not take them seriously. Charges to credit cards, non delivery of merchandise, and no customer service are the 3 strikes that takes them out.

Second, according to a post above, they are authorized to sell refurbished units, not new. Refurbished might be ok if the price is about half of a new unit but i sure can't see taking a chance on one if not. While they might sell new (not authorized by Garmin and not sure how the warranty works), who knows what you might be getting if you did order from these people.

In otherwords, again my opinon, if you have read this thread then you would be crazy, pardon the pun, to even think about ordering from these people. I know that i would certainly spread the word to anyone i knew who was thinking about buying...

The bad thing about it is, it appears that more often than not, people buy pay without researching first.

When i was looking, i came upon their site. Researched and then posted my finding in the appropriate thread here on the forums.

I hope more people research before buying.

Not sure I can have handled further aggravation. B)

After our initial order problems we placed two separate orders with PCNation and both times the units came within 3 days. So far, we are impressed with their quick delivery and low prices.

We used gpscrazy earlier this year with fair results. I recomended this site to a friend and they charged his charge card and simply would not answer any email about the the lengthy delay. I could not find a phone no. that was valid. I would not use this site ever again. I sent them e-mails also and they decided (I guess) not to answer me. Don't go to a site that doesn't give a phone no..

They do, in fact, appear to be out of business however the phone listed at Thomas still appears to be working however has privacy manager screening calls. They are about ten or 15 mins from my house.
