I'm working... well at least I'm at work.

Don Coyote, I love your avatar.

Back on topic, anyone going out on Saturday, 17th? As of right now I'm free and would like to hook up to hit some areas.

Duke.Johnson, dazednconfused(?), and a few other folks have put new ones out down in Carson. Lot's in Reno I need, plus around Pyramid, Fernley, Hazen, etc.

Pretty much wherever there's no snow. :)

Anyone want a hitchhiker along, or a driver?

=cross-post= So is anyone actually working today or is Rusty, MM, LostInReno, altered, and I just sitting on our respective boards posting?

I'm working... well at least I'm at work.

:P Yeah, me too!

I would love to meet up! I have room to seat 4 safely. I'm in on Saturday, I also have a noob friend that wants to try it out this weekend, maybe we can talk her into going too! She's my friend that I embarrassed at the birthday event :P (I really didn't think they would make her stand up and talk! :P )

:P I still want to cache with Ya' awlllll, but I will be in San Diego this weekend (including attending a mega event). Have a good time.

Oh by the way, trying to quote people to keep the replys short is time consuming. Is there an easy way to do it? :P

Oh I didn't mean to cut replies short! I love reading what others have to say! Just not multiple times.

I only asked because some of the replies include most of the past posts and you can pretty much read the entire thread in the last post.

So looks like Saturday morning is the time, where's the place?

Sunday is super hard for me (casino schedule) unless I plan way in advance.

Say Hi to Sunny&Sandy if you see them at Tamecula(?).

:P

Thank you, I'm pretty fond of it also. I enjoyed hearing you on the PodCacher podcast. Congrats on number 1000 and what a find it was.

Ok, I feel like I should explain something. The ammo can is seriously not that heavy.

Being from 6000 feet, it's hard to breathe sea-level air. :P

Thank you. I really wanted something memorable for that find.

Oh John, my heart bleeds for your misfortune of just having to go to SanDiego and Temecula where, sigh...., IT'S WARM AND THERE JUST HAPPENS TO BE A MEGA EVENT GOING ON!!!!!

:o The best thing about going to San Diego is that my wife is there!

I understand now what you mean about past posts and replies so I won't hurt my brain trying to cut and paste anymore

 I will try to find Sunny&Sandy at the event and tell then hi!

Ha! and he mocks my Magellan! Which BTW I have figured out the downloads, we didn't have any problems last weekend, in fact Gecko (a Garmin owner) commented on its accuracy!

Hey you guys have a great time this weekend! I'm jealous I couldn't make it to the event!

John, now I see what you mean by cut and paste. The easiest way to do this is click on the button "Reply. What that will do is copy the message for you, then you can just write your response.

If you don't want to include someone else's post, just click on FastReply, or AddReply at the bottom of the page.

Ha! and he mocks my Magellan! Which BTW I have figured out the downloads, we didn't have any problems last weekend, in fact Gecko (a Garmin owner) commented on its accuracy!

Argh! A Magellan owner?!? Oh, that doesn't I'm never speaking to you again.

Seriously - someone I used to cache with had a Magellan. It was odd that the roads my eTrex had, his Meridian didn't and vice versa. Between the two of us we had a complete picture of where we were.

Side subject: I know MM has already made his suggestion about the NGA forum, but it actually does seem to be the less-traffic site. Northern Nevada has it's own section so we can make as many threads as we want without running into the rest of the West and Southwest.

Just a thought. :(

I second this guys (Altered, Jeepster, John if you have time), I have been lurking over there in recent days, it is a lot less congested then here and of course the southerners are pretty cool

Oh yeah and they have a hangman game which I am horrible at!

I want to go back to Roseville and cache!, "it was somewhere off of Secret Ravine Rd, there is a really cool bike trail down there with a ton of caches on it, maybe in the Spring I'll have to go down and tackle them! (maybe get a group from here and go down there)

OK. This is my first time "posting" to this forum. Please be gentle! I saw LostinReno's posts on "the other format" & came over here to check it out. Hey, Gary found her at a cache & that's what he took from the cache! It's a story for another time...

These are random thoughts... here goes...

1. We want to go to Roseville! Is the bike trail a mountain bike trail? Our son would love this or I should say for NV Wolf, my navigator for the '05 rally. (we should have been 3rd in the night rally, but we did our best & placed 4th (that was our first rally!)

2. We wondered where some of the tried & true geo-cachers were hanging out. I guess we know now!

3. We LOVE the pic you choose as your av??? (whatever it is called! I am totally computers 101!), LostinReno! I/we think the Halloween event turned out pretty well. Thanks for using that picture.

4. "Hey" Rusty, et all!

5. All I/we want to do is geo-cache, have a good time, keep personal feelings out of "things", try to meet as many geo-cachers as we can & attend outings! I use the I/we because I am on the BOD of GBES, Gary is not. I chose to participate on the board because I really think we need a BOD that is supportive of all geo-cachers & keep it FUN!

6. FUN, FUN, FUN! That's what we want. No ill-feelings, no tit-for-tat....FUN!

OK! I rambled long enough. Hope this all works, I/we will stay tuned & we hope we are good to go!

Nexus-Wanderer

Gary & Mary Ann

Just a little P.S. I wondered where all those signal "little heads"/smiley faces came from... now I know!

Hope it worked! Hope I can post this, too!

Most of us have moved over to Nevada Geocaching since it's less congested there and we're not competing with the rest of the "west and southwest".

And some of us are still here, because we can keep track of the goings on in different areas.

I am in sort of the opposite situation of John (of jahoadi and john). I am a born-and-bred, dyed-in-the-wool Nevadan. I retired from the Navy in San Diego because that was my last duty station and now I am just waiting for my kids to fly the coop so I can move to Spring Creek and gaze at the Ruby Mountains all day.

The Groundspeak forums allow me to stay in touch with both the Nevada and the San Diego communities in one easy place.

Hi Mary Ann! The bike path that goes under Secret Ravine Rd is fully paved, I'm not too sure where it starts or ends  , I just started there because my cousin lives really close by. There were a ton of caches along it though! Teri also mentioned one in Roseville called 10 Foot Pole, gotta do that one next time I'm down there!

Hey I'm just havin fun, I really didn't mean to cause such and uproar about the forum thing  . No ill feelings over here! The Halloween event was a blast! They need to do more of them. When are they going to post more info on the Rally?

:mmraspberry: I'm back in Fallon after a nice long weekend in San Diego! NevadaWolf, I said hi to the podcacher people for you (sunny&sandy?). The Temecula event did indeed go Mega, so that is the first one Jodi and I have attended. I saw Don Coyote there and 2dee2dee who has caches placed near Yerrington. On the forum thing, it is hard for me to look in more than one spot because of time. I may try to lurk once in a while (they are still hard for me to follow and goundspeak is easy, again, at least for me it is that way). Where are we caching this weekend?? :signalviolin: Edited by jahoadi and john

Your back! I've been reading some of the posts about the event(s), looks like it was a blast! Maybe next year! I think the plan at this point is Virginia City, but I don't think that it is set in stone.

Hi, new to geocaching. pop(me) n kid(son) have really enjoyed the extra time it gives us away from the house. We live in Sparks, NV and look forward to catching all the caches out there.

Hi Popnkid!, welcome to the insanity!,

Also be sure to check out Gbesgeo.org, they are the group in Northern Nevada that puts the caching events up here and then there is Nevadageocaching.com which is mostly Vegas oriented but they do have a northern section, with some good info too!

Thanks! And if you haven't heard it yet, listen to show 91: Challenging Cache Hunts! Sadly, I can't go caching on Saturday. So I think I'll try some Power caching on Friday.

Well, you Southerners were always commenting on how there is no activity on the Northern Forum - so now that you got some, you're complaining again!

Shush.

You'd think being from Vegas and all, they would be able to handle a little action put forth by the Northerners!

They need to get busy planning the 7/7/07 event! I'll go down there...............in July! *where is the emoticon that bursts into flames?*

John, I think the plan at this point is to do the Pyramid caches on Saturday, once again we are at the mercy of mother nature! If the weather is icky we were just planning to do some more Reno area caches.

NevadaWolf! We'll miss you Saturday :P

 I will stay available for either way on Saturday. Please just let me know. Who is we? I cache in any weather! I do have empty ammo cans for ya'll. :D

 Ok then, help Mr. Moose Mob... I "applied" for an account on the nevadageocaching web site and it said to wait 24 hours and they would e mail me. welllllll it was early yesterday morning when I filled out their(your???) application and I still haven heard from them (it is now late afternoon).... This is starting to get frustrating for someone who doesn't have easy access to his personal e mail and yada yada yada, more complaining etc!.... Can you help??? :P

I'll take some ammo cans off your hands too as well John, I have some caches I want to place, and wouldn't mind a little bit larger one for storing tools in the back of my truck. Looks like the plan is still to hit up pyramid lake area, we can meet at the "cover up" cache, which is on the corner of pyramid highway and eagle canyon, in the albertsons parking lot. John, there are alot of great caches on pyramid highway heading north from I-80, if you get an early start it'd be a good chance to grab some caches.

I have to tell you folks that I keep lurking in your forum thread....

I used to live just into Sparks across the street from Paradise Park on El Rancho, and I sure miss the area. Of course, it's been 25 years since I lived there, so it's probably not at all like it used to be (For instance, I look at GoogleEarth and see lots of subdivisions I don;t remember being there, and I bet the Brass Lamp Pizza isn't there anymore)...

...but sometimes I sure miss looking out my window at dusk and seeing the lights come on across Reno with the hills turning purple in the background. So y'all keep chatting away, and I'll live there vicariously through your forum thread. Who knows, maybe one vacation I get back out that way to do some caching!

Hi Neos2! I've been here for the better part of almost 40 years, you wouldn't recognize the Reno/Sparks of 25 years ago! It's sad really, that state to the west has really taken over! Strip malls everywhere, construction everywhere and I vaguely remember the Brass Lamp, it sadly is long gone too! Paradise Park has become somewhat ghettoesque in recent years, they did clean it up a little bit. It was pretty bad over there for quite a while. The drive-in is actually still there, they have a scary flea market on the weekends. I would look at some of the local cachers pages under gallery, mine has a couple of shots of the skyline now, anyways enough of my babbling.

Where exactly are we meeting tomorrow morning?
