+VeryLost
What does everyone do with tracking information? I load it into the MapSource software that came with my GPSr, and use the track properties to whittle it down to just the hiking portions of the day. That way I can determine how far I hiked. Aside from that I don't have any use for the data, so I delete it. Quote Link to comment
+cache_r_joe
Most of the time nothing at all. Sometimes I'll load it into Mapsource or into GPSVisualizer or another program to visualize the hike or drive I took. I usually only load the track if there is something specific or a specific reason I want to keep or look at it. J Quote Link to comment

+jchiar
So there are no desktop appications that take gpx tracks and produce jpg images besides mapsource? Quote Link to comment
+PDOP's
Try GPSTrackmaker which is freeware. You can always do a print screen of any mapping software. I've been saving tracks for years with the date as the file name. It's surprising how often I have a reason to go back and look at the data. Quote Link to comment

That allows me to capture just what I want, it's fast and it's easy. Quote Link to comment
+cache_r_joe
I will often import the track into Streets and Trips. From there you can save the map as a BMP, maybe a jpg. Quote Link to comment
+geognerd
So there are no desktop appications that take gpx tracks and produce jpg images besides mapsource? Google Earth will export a JPEG showing your tracklog. With your track on the map, zoom to whatever part you want to show, then go to File > Save Image. I'm only able to get images that are 736x599; about good enough to post on the web. Quote Link to comment
+EScout
As mentioned, Google Earth. You can also get a .jpg from National Geo Topo, with your tracks or waypoints, or Geocaches marked. Quote Link to comment
