You can now send TYP file with mapsource in your GPSr. If you use MapSetToolKit, you just take your FID in hexa and convert your HEX in DEC. After you put in your TYP file this number in FID. After you put 1 in PRODUCTCODE. This method with MapSetToolKit it's available 1.08 and more I little bugs in MapSetToolKit 1.11 with ID in uninstall list. The ID is incorrect. ex: You see 3400, the good ID is 0034. The fix is makde, I finish my test tomorrow for this bugs. Just compile your TYP. And your Happy, it's work great. Yes you enter a good FID in MapSetToolKit. But after install this mapset, check (ID:) in uninstall listbox this number is inverse. it's not same that FID your enter in FID field. When I spoke to reverse it, I did not speak about that enter FID field, but about that in the uninstall listbox.. There already was an error in MapSetToolkit with the FID bye Cypherman Edited January 28, 2007 by cypherman Quote Link to comment

rws
So what is a TYP custom maps, type files, etc and what do they do? Thanks A .TYP file is created by cGPSMapper using Cyphermans genTYP program to alter the display characteristics of polylines, polygons and points in your custom made maps. Download the cGPSMapper Manual and study section 5 for a detailed explanation of how to use TYP. Edited January 29, 2007 by rws Quote Link to comment
+myotis
Thanks. Am I understanding this correctly? One thing I do not like is it is hard to see trails in the custom maps I make. Can I make one of these typ files that I can just load onto the card that will change the way it displays in my 60csx? I do not care about MapSource and am not really concerned about anything else except maybe the way an alley/private drive is displayed (looks too much like a trail). I have looked at all the stuff being talked about here and am completely lost. So as to not reinvent the wheel, has anyone already done this and have a file to share? Or is there some sample file to work from? Thanks. So what is a TYP custom maps, type files, etc and what do they do? Do you want a border on that line and what color? I'll make you a TYP file to try out that you can send to your GPSr with Sendmap20 along with your img. I'll also send you the TYP text control file I used to make it so you can use it as a guide to make your own TYP files. Quote Link to comment
+myotis
Thanks! I am not sure about the hex code. The mp file has [POLYLINE] Type=0x16 Is that what you are looking for? My whole file will be at: http://mapcenter.cgpsmapper.com/maplist.php?author=4216 I would like for trails to just be red. No border. I think that will make it show up better. Can I use the USB interface and simply place the typ file on the card? Thanks again. Thanks. Am I understanding this correctly? Lines can be made any color with or with out borders and any width you want. Use Sendmap20 to upload the TYP color choice and img files together. screenshots are from a 276c red yellow w red border white w red border cyan w white border Edited January 30, 2007 by rws Quote Link to comment

+Keith Watson
I have been doing some playing around and this is a cool program. I have a quiestion about BMP's for lines. Any suggestions on how to make a bitmap and how it should show up? A sample file would be nice. Quote Link to comment
eaparks
Creating Custom Dashed Lines w/ GENTyp 1. Open GenTYP v0.93 BETA and in upper left corner click on "File" and select "New" or "Open". 2. If creating a new .txt file go to the GenTYP instructions; if editing an existing .txt file for custom shaped lines then click "Open" and open your .txt file to edit. In the "Element" box highlight the element to edit and click on "Edit" at the bottom of the "Element" box. The following boxes: "TYPE Element", "Element Name", and "Type" should be the only boxes with data in them; if any other boxes in the "ADD / EDIT" box have data in any of them then you should delete that data (such as Language, Type List, Sub Type, Solid Color, or Line Width boxes). 3. Click on "ADD/EDIT IMAGE" and in the XPM image box enter your XPM code. Ex. 1 below is for a red wide dotted line. All of the lines must be entered exactly in the format as they are, including: Xpm=, the "at the beginning and end and the correct number of spaces in the last 3 lines (all 3 must be the same number of spaces). The line can also be made using "Paint.net" a free graphics program similar to Microsoft Paint and importing your line into the "ADD / EDIT" box in the GENTyp utility. Xpm="32 3 2 1" "* c #FF0000" " c #FFFFFF" " ** ** ** ** " "**** **** **** **** " " ** ** ** ** " In Ex. 1 above line 1 the "32" stands for a line length of 32 pixels in the 4th, 5th, and 6th lines. The "3" stands for an image 3 pixels in height, (is made up of the 4th, 5th, and 6th lines). The "2" stands for 2 colors in the line, is line 2 and 3. The "*" in line 2 is the type of character being used in lines 4, 5, and 6. The #FF0000 is the sRGB value for a red line and #FFFFFF is the sRGB value for white spaces. Lines 4, 5, and 6 make the shape of the image/dotted line. Ex. 2: Blue narrow dashed line Xpm="32 2 2 1" "* c #0000FF" " c #FFFFFF" "***** ***** ***** ***** " "***** ***** ***** ***** " Ex. 3: Red dotted line Xpm="32 3 2 1" "* c #FF0000" " c #FFFFFF" " ** ** ** ** " "**** **** **** **** " " ** ** ** ** " 4. Once you have entered your XPM code then click on "Apply" at bottom. 5. In the "Option" box check the "Compile TYP" box. 6. In the "cgpsmapper" box click on "…" and browse to your C:\Garmin\Custom folder and highlight the "cgpsmapper.exe" file and click on "Open" and "C:\Garmin\Custom\cgpsmapper.exe" should now appear in the "cgpsmapper" box. 7. Now click on "START" and GENTyp will run editing your .txt file and creating a new .TYP file. Quote Link to comment
Bob Morphew
I have been doing some playing around and this is a cool program. I have a quiestion about BMP's for lines. Any suggestions on how to make a bitmap and how it should show up? A sample file would be nice. I used genTYP to get started on making TYP files and it's a great product, but for more complex graphics I switched to this on-line editor. It has a simple graphical editor and shows previews on different backgrounds so make it much easier to use. Bob Quote Link to comment
