Geocoins relating to U.K. and Ireland.

UK geocachers who like the idea of having a trackable geocoin with their name on it, and in their choice of colours, may be interested in the GeoJellies4 project which has been started over on the Geocoin Discussion forum. Minimum order is for 22 Geojelly beans at US$6 each plus postal charges.

More details: GeoJellies4

Was wondering if there would be any interest in a UK version of something similar? Any suggestions as to what?

Jelly babies? Gob-stoppers?

Just to let folks know that the South Wales Miner's Protector Lamp is now available for sale and that the golfer's coins are now also available for pre-sale (and should be ready for shipping within the next week).

They're currently being sold on my personal shopping cart pending the completion of the new South Wales Geocachers cart.

Note that the tracking number (where the word SAMPLE has been etched) is actually slightly curved inline with the rounded design of the coin.

Sort of a preadvancewarning! The Third Cornish Coin has finally got underway. This one will be featuring Isambard Kingdom Brunels Railway Bridge at Saltash, and Isambard himself on the reverse. No doubt we'll slip a chough in the design somewhere!

I'll upload pictures etc as soon as I have some.

Furter details may be found on the Cornish Forum at kacher.co.uk

Looking forward to it to go with the other two! Please keep us informed when they are ready.

The new GAGB coin has now been shipped and delivery is expected to be in around 3 -4 weeks.

Coin-latest1.jpg

They will sell at £6.75* + p&p each (of which 20% will go to the GAGB funds) *price based on cost but may vary dependant on any tax I have to pay in this country, hopefully not.

I am now taking orders (with 50% deposit) contact me through my profile for payment details

I have a couple of United Kingdom geocoins available for sale. Email me if you are interested and I'll point you in the right direction.

Issued in 2005, they were one of the first (if not THE first) UK Geocoins. These are both unactivated, but one can not be activated as it is a misprint with a 7 digit trackable code. Collectable, or junk? You decide!

The other one is unused/unactivated and ready to go!

Guys you may remember a while back i had my idea for a Somerset Geocoin and a fair few of you had an input into how it looked and what went on it. Now it has finally been made and is available for presale.

I think they have come out really nice, so a big thank you to all who chucked in ideas, coments and critisism!

The coin comes in Antique Silver and Antique Bronze.

As Bear and Ragged mentions, it is indeed possible to get them from over here in the UK, but I have found that you usually end up paying more for some reason.

I have ordered the Somerset coin, along with two Compass Rose 2010 coins directly from Coins & Pins at a total cost of just over $38, including handling, shipping, etc. That works out at around £24-25 for the three.

I bet you will struggle to get any of these in the UK for less than £9.99, and I suspect the Compass Roses will be even more. This also doesn't take into account any postage that might apply.

I buy a lot of coins, and would love to get them from over here, but get put off having to pay more, get them slower and a number of coins sell out and if you don't pre-order them, you won't ever get one!

Announcing what we think is a unique Geocoin coming under the umbrella of Mega Wales 2011 fundraising - and although our two previous Geocoins (Miner's lamp and Golfing coin) were also fund raisers for the Mega, this is the first of our coins to actually bear the wording Mega Wales 2011.

What's unique about them? Well, they're not made from metal - they're going to be hand crafted Welsh slate discs that have been laser etched with the coin's design. 100% made in Wales, down to the rock they're made on.

slate01.jpg

We're looking at two different designs for the second side - the first can be seen above and the second below.

slate03.jpg

There's a fuller description and another image on the main coin forum.

We were initially thinking of making 50 due to the high cost (ball park figure of £12.50) but we're over half way to that number in definite expressions of interest already. These could well be available for sale within a couple of weeks as they're going to be manufactured byIdentilase Ltd, which is quite local to where I live.

Please can someone recommend a free database software for keeping photos of coins

Found today whilst caching in the City . I tried to do this one my GPS was so badly thrown off that we ended up in nearest city , taking photos beside entirely the wrong object! Now I have a new Oregon and caching in the city is soooo much easier

I thought I'd have a look at what's on offer here.

Nothing for 7 months. Do the UK not produce many coins then?

There never were that many UK geocoin designers/producers. You'll find examples of their coins within this thread.

I think there's been quite a slump in the geocoin production over the last year or so, not just in UK but also with US geocoins too. There are not nearly so many new geocoins appearing over on the Geocoin Discussion forum as there were 3 or 4 years ago. IMHO :)

I should check again, but the Dollar/Pound rate wasn't proving helpful last time I looked and coins were amazingly more expensive than in 2007/2008 when I last produced a Cornish Coin. Coins we sold for £4.50 back then would have to sell at double that now...

People are quoting £9 for a coin.hand delivered. Quoted by someone at tonight's event in Berkshire it seems.

That's too rich for my tastes.

Not sure if I should be posting here or in the Car Boot section....

Some of my geocoins are for sale as per the photo. Those below the line have activated, but, can easily be transferred to new owner. Those above the line are unactivated.

£1.50 P&P each. P&P would be reduced for multiple purchases.... They will be listed on eBay soon if not sold here. They are also advertised on the South Wales Geocachers Facebook Group.

PM if you want any further information.

As announced by drsolly:

"You can have a look now at the geocoins for the Geolympix.

geolympix-sample.gif

Note the hole at the top. That means that you can thread a [lanyard] through and wear it round your neck..." There is a 'hidden' feature which you might just be able to spot on this poor quality photo. Better images with notes on changes to colours will follow.

Prices are expected to be £12 per 60mm x 4mm coin, £23 for two or £33 for all three, in Gold, Silver and Bronze finishes.

Trackable on Geocaching.com, with its own icon. Stock expected in June. Please preorder via the Geolympix home page.

Hi, not sure if I'm in the right place but I'm looking for a couple of geocoins and hope that someone here can help me.

The first one is the Best of British' (the one with Britannia on it) and the other is the Brecon Beacons oval-shaped coin.

I wonder if anyone can help me.

Cheers

I have never looked at this thread on the forum before so a couple of questions if no one minds

I have at least 50 geocoins I could sell, including the UKs First Mega event Gold, Silver and the LE Black I have two of each of these some registered some not, which leads me to my first question.

Do people buy geocoins that have already been registered by their previous owners? I can't see why not I would as it is very easy to change the ownership of the coin once it is in your posession..

Do coins that have already been registered to a previous owner sell for a little less?

Do geocoins still sell at all or are they a passing fad?

I have seen a few coins on this thread that I have, all sitting in a file in a drawer gathering dust :o

I have been after a Border Collie coin for quite some time now, (I know Jacaru had a batch made and I think there was a batch before those? if anyone has one for sale please let me know.

Any help would be appreciated

Mandy as with anything collectable the value is down to whoever is looking for the item really so generally the price is driven by the collector/buyer. I have really slowed down on my collecting due to the rediculous prices people in Europe want to charge, also I am more selective on the design of the coin. There is a european supplier who is just starting a coin series on working dogs I am sure there is a collie in that series also if you are interested pm me. As for activated coins there is no problem with ownership transferring and the value of the coin will depend on the coin itself, some people just won't buy a coin that has been activated. Hope this helps!

Hi

Here is our first ever attempt at a Geocoin, the coin is by Oakcoins and these are the colours we chose for the Dartmoor (Devon) Coin. The coin has a black nickel surround to show off the white and is a full size (2 inch) coin. Price of the coin is £7.00 each for anyone attending the event, if not attending the 12 12 12 Dartmoor event you are still welcome to order a coin, postage will be an extra £1

I think we are down to around 20 coins left, if you would like one please let us know soonish either through our geocaching profile, on the Dartmoor 12 12 12 event page if local or by e-mail viv1@keith1964.freeserve.co.uk Once they are sold that's it, we only had a limited number made...............
