+Sparrowhawk Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Hi! I have a genius cartoonist for a friend and sometimes he'll draw images for me to finish in Photoshop. Someone challenged me to do a a first finder t-shirt design. I have it half-finished... but before I get done colorizing it in Photoshop, I should stop here and ask for other folk's opinion of the design. I will take pre-orders at some point... right now I just want to see what I should do with this thing to improve the idea of it, if anything. Your opinion, please. Quote
+John Wayne Pooch Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 i like it. it's cute. even though i am not a bearded balding guy..... but i can see that as me in the future. Quote
+briansnat Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Shouldn't that be a lamp post in a parking lot instead of a log in the mountains . Quote
+Sparrowhawk Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 (edited) Shouldn't that be a lamp post in a parking lot instead of a log in the mountains . Hmmmmm... "Annoyed Geocacher Squinting At A #$@! Micro In A Mall Parking Lot"... ...that design CAN be arranged... Name the design idea and I'll think about it, in addition to feedback for the first finder one I already came up with. Edited November 14, 2006 by Sparrowhawk Quote
Tahosa and Sons Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Mountains are cool, but my beard is white and the top of me head still has hair. How about some wild animals in the background, maybe a bear chewing on a crunchy muggle. Quote
RexBloodman Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Add a dog or kids to the guy in the background! It would count for him being second to find!!!! Quote

+Clothahump Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Looks good. I'd add in a cop/ a cloud of mosquitos / a snake / a boarhog / any or all of the above. Quote
nonaeroterraqueous Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Shouldn't that be a lamp post in a parking lot instead of a log in the mountains . Ever tried to fit a t-shirt under a lamp post collar? Quote
+theUMP Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I'd have "FTF" in the rosette instead of "1st Finder" The wearer's going to have to explain it to Muggles anyway, so you might as well use the terminology in common use between cachers! Quote
+Woodlit Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I'm in to it, let me know when I can order one. Quote
+Sparrowhawk Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 Huh... I am surprised at there being cachers here objecting to the character being bald. I might add some hair to the guy. ALSO... "FTF" instead of "first finder" is a good idea. Maybe add a dog to the second finder... make sure the dog is having a hissy fit too? You decide. Quote

+chancerider Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I like it... I'd also change First Finder to FTF. And it sorta kinda looks like my husband who has a beard, mustache, and is bald.... tho what hair he has is grey! I'd like a female version even better but would probably order a couple. Quote
+Sparrowhawk Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 Hmmmmm... maybe I could start with this... then create a few variations, such as a female verison and version of parents with kids. I know! I'll finish this one, then start a waiting list for those who want the next versions as I start getting those out. Should the female version be ordinary or... (ahem) should I add just a tad of "Hey, good lookin'!" to it? OK, funny question, but I DO honestly wanna know! Quote
+Silny Jako Bek Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Even if you create different versions, you will still have the problem of putting a male FTF character shirt in a cache as a FTF prize, and a female cacher is FTF. She may not want the "guy version". How about leaving out the finder's image completely and have the poor, thwarted second finder seething (or some other emotion) over an opened cache container, holding the logbook with a FTF log already written inside.... +Sparrowhawk Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 Even if you create different versions, you will still have the problem of putting a male FTF character shirt in a cache as a FTF prize, and a female cacher is FTF. She may not want the "guy version". That is why I was brainstorming an idea of having a cacher-placer order not a shirt for the FTF prize for their cache, but a fancy-looking voucher. The voucher would have a choice between this guy design, a possible female design, and about 2 other ideas I have. The first-finder would send me the voucher with their choice of shirt design, and I ship them whatever kind of FTF shirt they want. One of the ideas is a non-cartoony beautiful photo of whatever makes the cache location cool, decorated with just the first finder ribbon and the name of the cache. How about leaving out the finder's image completely and have the poor, thwarted second finder seething (or some other emotion) over an opened cache container, holding the logbook with a FTF log already written inside.... Now THAT is another cool idea. Quote
