Renegade Knight Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 I find my feet the most adaptable for the most situations. They can handle bigger rocks and more mud than most 4x4s. Plus they can go around and nobody yells at me for being off trail. Still best 4x4 is a relative thing and there is no universal best. Anything that would be best in my book has to seat 5. In my universe that's an old Diesel Blazer or a Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series. Quote
Da king Posted November 8, 2006 Author Posted November 8, 2006 I mean to the location where one must park. Quote
Team Perrito Blanco Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Any car that gets me to the trailhead. Quote
avroair Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I went caching in a Prius with the nav system all hooked up for waypoints, it was sweet! Quote
briansnat Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I think either a Porsche 997 Turbo or a 1967 American Motors Rambler station wagon. Quote
avroair Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I think either a Porsche 997 Turbo or a 1967 American Motors Rambler station wagon. Is that all you could come up with? Quote
Squealy Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 The Z-Man's pimped-out Caddy! Nothing like pulling down some dirt road in the Pine Barrens. I still can't believe we didn't get arrested. Quote
Renegade Knight Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I think either a Porsche 997 Turbo or a 1967 American Motors Rambler station wagon. Is that all you could come up with? At least the Ramber has a good song about it. Quote
briansnat Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 At least the Ramber has a good song about it. Yeah, I love that Led Zep song Ramble On Quote
Not So Lost Puppies Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 One of our cache-mobiles is a Honda Insight, our primary though is a Honda Civic Hybrid. You would be hard pressed to find other vehicles that get much better Caches per Gallon [the previously mentioned Prius being one though] Quote
2Wheel'in Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Any car that gets me to the trailhead. ...........and home again Bill Quote
nfa Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 My Honda Element is a pretty sweet cache-mobile... Quote
Planet Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I think either a Porsche 997 Turbo or a 1967 American Motors Rambler station wagon. Mine was cherry red inside and out, and I don't mean Porsche! Three on the tree, I could shift that baby without using the clutch. Only it was an AMC Rebel sedan, not the wagon. As far as the best car to go in? My car, that means I'll be the driver. I love my caching mobile. It's a Subaru Forester. As a matter of fact, I'm at the Subaru dealership right now getting a check-up. They have a computer for me to use, and a TV to watch. If something is wrong (I'm hearing a noise) they will give me a loaner. Whoopdie do for my Subaru! 95,000+ wonderful caching miles over 16 states, in 4 years, and counting. Quote
crystalndave Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Something with at least a little ground clearance.... For the full story we really do love the car though... good mpg for a non hybrid Quote
GPS Guy Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 (edited) My family had a red Rambler wagon. It was a late '50s model with electric push button select automatic transmission. We used to go camping in the Adirondacks with that lemon. My favorite memory is going to the ice cream store with the whole family jammed inside. Edited November 10, 2006 by GPS Guy Quote

GerIRL Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Ford F-150... Get R Done!! That would be "Git 'r Done!!" Quote
kohldad Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Depends on the weather, terrain and distance. But to make sure I have the shortest hike possible, I take my 82 Jeep Scrambler. After all getting there is half the fun. Note: Picture taken on legal OHV Trail, I believe in Tread Lightly and Leave No Trace. Quote
sbell111 Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 A Grand Cherokee gets you there and back in comfort. I've had two WJs and could not be happier. Quote
CTForester Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I think either a Porsche 997 Turbo or a 1967 American Motors Rambler station wagon. I love my caching mobile. It's a Subaru Forester. My 1961 Rambler All American wagon was Red and White outside with an automatic transmission. My Forester has 105,000 and still going strong. I can park in places my old Taurus would never get out of. With the price of gas these days, the best car to go geocaching in is the car that belongs to whoever you can talk into driving! Quote
Peconic Bay Sailors Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 (edited) 2005 Jeep KJ DITTO!!! Peconic (YET TO GET STUCK) Bay Sailors... The Compass is a little too underpowered for real off road... Edited November 18, 2006 by Peconic Bay Sailors Quote
