Find by Name missing?

I was out today and needed to get to a Home Depot, when I went to look for it I was stumped, there was no Find by Name option when doing a Find under All POI's.

I haven't pulled out the GPS to verify but as I understand, doing a search by nearest and then hitting menu, will give you the option to find by nearest containing.

 

You should be hitting 'find' again to get both, not menu.

I'm a little confused (that's pretty common for me ). What do you mean by "doing a search by nearest and then hitting menu, will give you the option to find by nearest containing."? How would I search for "Nearest"? And I already have the "Nearest Containing" option, so why would I search for "Nearest" to get the option to find by "Nearest Containing"?.

 

What I am missing is "Find by Name".

 

If you look on the instructions in the background you can see that there are 3 options, one of which is "Find by Name". On my unit there is only 2 options, the "Find by Name" is missing. I did exactly as the instructions said.

 

Also, hitting the Find button again brings me back to the main Find menu.

Searching for POI first gives you nearest store "type" or by name.

 

Searching by name does not give you the nearest first, you have to specify it, by first selecting......

 

Okay, let me go get the gps.

Here's what you should get.

 

(What software are you using. Trips and Waypoints or maybe City Select?)

 

>Find

>all POI

 

(Should pop up all Cats Nearest location)

 

>Menu

Find by name

Nearest containing...

Change reference

That's what the instructions say too.

 

However, when I do it it only shows the 2 options that you see in the picture above.

 

I am using City Navigator N.A. v8 NT.

Yep, I'm just trying to brainstorm the issue. It just seems familiar, one of those “one off” things. (Or I’m way-off myself)

 

Just curious, are you trying this while you have satellite connection?

The instructions (and BlueDeuce) say there is a Find by Name option as well as Nearest Containing option.

 

What do you mean when you say they are the same?

 

If you look at my picture above (or page 25 in your own manual if you have one) you can see the three options on the screen.

Yes sir, I have my Gilsson out the window, I'm getting 10 sats with WAAS and 14 foot accuracy.

 

I had the same problem earlier in the day when I was out on the road getting good reception. Today was the first time I tried to use this option since I bought the 60Cx.

I am using City Select and have the same 60CSx as VoltageHz. (ok, not the same EXACT CSx, but same model, same software and firmware)

 

I select FIND / All Point of Interest / MENU and the first choice is Find by Name.

 

As BlueDuece says, it may be a CN thing.

Find by name works with the 60CSx and City Navigator maps. When you select the maps to load to the GPS, a lot of time is spent building the index file that is needed for find by name to work, my guess is that the computer had a glitch during this process resulting in a corrupted file thus resulting in find by name not working. Try reloading the maps to the unit.
