New forums not recognizing my login

Recommended Posts

I'm sure that this is an ID-10-T error, but I can't get into the new Groundspeak Portal forums. I'm getting

"Server Error in '/' Application.

Membership InvalidPassword"

even though I'm using my normal Waymarking login info. What am I doing wrong?

If your password is under 7 characters and does not have a number in it. Try changing it to be at least 7 characters and include a number. That is what worked for me.

HELP. That's not working for me.

I have more than 7 letters and a number.

When I try to respond, or click on a persons name, I get to sent to:

http://portal.Groundspeak.com/Msgs/default.aspx?MessageID=73

It says:

User Already Logged In

You are already logged in. If you were redirected here while trying to access another part of the site, please contact the site administrator to request additional permissions.

Does "Site Administrator" mean "Groundspeak"?

HMMM- I wonder if that ampersand is the culprit?

Edit: OOPS, I guess I don't read well. That's "password", not "User name"

Now I understand.

Unfortunately, the ampersand IS the culprit. In the Portal all accounts have their own profile page:

http://portal.Groundspeak.com/members/opinionate.aspx

You can't have an ampersand in the URL or it will break. The upshot is that you won't be able to participate in the forum unless we remove the ampersand. I'm sorry about this. :)

We can change your username to 8NutsandMotherGoose if you like. This offer goes for anyone else with an ampersand (&) in their username.

Yes, please do. Can a space be used in place of the "&"? If not, then make it "And" with a capital "A".

Thank you.

And thanks to all for all the fun, too.

Sure, I'll send you a private message to work out the details. Thanks so much for understanding.
