+Just Roger Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 This afternoon the Grease Monkey 50000:1 OS map replacements on the cache pages have stopped working and now it just says "Configuration Error No Server" with the red circle below it. Is anyone else seeing this or is it just me? In other words is it a server down, has something on the OS site changed or has something changed on my PC? Quote
Edgemaster Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Doesn't appear to be just you. But, you should really blame MultiMap, not the OS! Quote
BWBlackett Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Working ok here on Firefox 2.0 Not working on my Firefox 2.0 - same error as above....... Quote
+Haggis Hunter Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Working ok here on Firefox 2.0 Not working on my Firefox 2.0 - same error as above....... Appears to be working ok on my firefox 2. this is the map that displays on the cache page that we are talking about? Quote
BWBlackett Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Yes, the one which replaces the standard GC one. Quote
+walkergeoff and wife Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Working ok here on Firefox 2.0 Not working on my Firefox 2.0 - same error as above....... Appears to be working ok on my firefox 2. this is the map that displays on the cache page that we are talking about? I rather suspect that we are talking about different things. If the Greasemonkey script is not installed, then the standard grey background map will be shown. I have just disabled the script and this is indeed the case. With the script enabled, there is an error shown, because the standard map is replaced by one that is on the OS server. Clearly there is a problem on the server resulting in the error. Hope this helps. Quote
+Haggis Hunter Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Yes, the one which replaces the standard GC one. Yep just double checked and it is working fine on mine Quote

+Haggis Hunter Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 It works on this cache but not this one Quote

Yep just double checked and it is working fine on mine Is there an easy way to put a picture up on this forum - I will show you whast we mean - it's a blank box with the red location circle and the words Config error; no server Quote
BWBlackett Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Now I'm really confused...... It doesn't work on this page GCND0B but does on this one GCZ50D Very strange...... Quote
+Just Roger Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 It works on this cache but not this one Mine isnt working on either of these It has been fine on Firefox 2 for several days and was working at lunchtime but by teatime it wasn't. It isn't working on either of the pages mentioned by BWBlackett either. I'm just about to uninstall the script and reinstall it. Quote
+Just Roger Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 It get stranger. It is working on my laptop which is also running Firefox 2 but I haven't found any caches it will work on using the desktop. Re installing the grease monkey script made no difference. Quote

Edgemaster Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I'm thinking their servers have blown up, or had their system changed slightly. Hopefully the owner of this script could fix it, I really don't have the time right now something's come up. Quote
+Sensei TSKC Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 There are a couple of pages the script seems to work on. The majority do not. Must be a server error. Quote
+Just Roger Posted November 1, 2006 Author Posted November 1, 2006 Having played some more last night and again this morning, I believe that the pages that appear to work are ones that have the map cached (in the computer not tupperware). I found one that worked but doing a Ctrl-F5 killed it which led me to this conclusion. This raises the question of weather this script has ever worked on Ff 2 or if there has indeed been a tweak on a server somewhere that has killed it and the proximity to the change to Ff2 is purely coincidental. Is anyone of Ff 1.5 having the same problem? I agree with Edgemaster, we need LordElf's help on this one. Quote
+Pengy&Tigger Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Nowt to do with FF2. We are still on 1.5.0.7 and the script works intermittantly for us too. T Quote

That can't be right as the two that BWBlackett supplied I had never opened before, but I got the same result as he did. Quote
barryhunter Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 This is almost certainly due to Multi map who host the imagry. It might even be the start of them attempting to block this (not strictly allowed) use of their servers, so I would hold off trying to do any debugging or extra testing, so one not to give a defined pattern and two lessen the load caused by everyone checking various caches. +The Southseakers Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 (edited) Sorry for the delay, I noticed that the maps had stopped working on Saturday morning but have only just had time to sit down and work out what had gone wrong... The problem is indeed caused by a change to multimaps server and has nothing to do with firefox version. Multimap have changed the address of their map server and hence have broken the greasemonkey script. The good news is that it is easy to fix Just right click on the following link and select "Install User Script..." http://www.xisoft.co.uk/greasemonkey/Geoca...mbedder.user.js Your maps should now be working again! If you have any problems then either e-mail me or post it here. Happy Caching! PS: If you still have problems after following the above instructions then you may be installing a cached copy of the old script. Click on the above link, then press F5 to force a refresh of the page. Now reinstall the script. Edited November 5, 2006 by The Southseakers Quote
+Just Roger Posted November 6, 2006 Author Posted November 6, 2006 Many thanks for this fix Neil. I regard this as my most important Greasemonkey script - even more so than the Forum Ignore Thread one, and that's saying a lot. Thanks again Quote
