What WAAS Bird should I be seeing?

I have reset my 76 CSX twice in the last few days and then hooked up my external antenna and let it download what ever almanac is available.

I am not seeing any WAAS birds any longer. No 35, 48 or 51.

What WAAS birds should I be seeing in New England and is there anything else I ought to have done to reset the GPSr so I get the almanac reset?

if and when I finally see 48 or 51 on my sat acquisition page, do I have to do another reset to download a current almanac from one of them?

I don't know why everyone is so big on doing resets on their units lately. Where you are you will only probabaly see 48 and 51. They are still in test mode but 48 should be operational in a few days. Just be patient. Yes, update your software and firmware. Download the newest version of "webupdater" from garmin. It makes it easy. Enable WAAS in setup. Make sure you are not using battery saver mode. When you are in an open area the unit will take care of the almanac itself. If you see it cycleing through sat numbers, just let it do its thing. Even after you get WAAS (d's above the sat numbers) the new units do not always use or show the WAAS sats. Sometimes you get them and sometimes not.

There is no need to reset a 76Csx as the almanac is hard coded in the firmware. All you need to do is make sure you have the newest GPS firmware.

Okay, I have the latest webupdater, the SW version is 3.0 the GPS SW version is 2.70. Do I need to wait until they make 2.80 available for the new WAAS almanac or is it in 2.70?
