+Okiebryan
Lookie here! I want one! Guess I should save up for a new GPSMap 60x first, huh? Quote Link to comment
Clan Riffster
I was watching a show on The Science Channel talking about future Segways, and they had a 4 wheel drive model. Looked kinda like a 4-wheeler without all the racket. If Jeremy ever decides I have to own a Segway to continue geocaching, I'll consider one. Till then, I'd rather hike. Quote Link to comment

+michigansnorkelers
12.5 MPH on a backwoods trail? Yeah! Must be fun to lug back if the batteries die. Quote Link to comment
+Bad_CRC
almost all the trails around here, that would be perfect to get a lot of exercise. dragging that thing over large logs, rocks, and roots would be a heck of a workout. Quote Link to comment
+New England n00b
The guy in that picture was in perfect health. What does he need a Segway for? Quote Link to comment
+Bad_CRC
The guy in that picture was in perfect health. What does he need a Segway for? you have to stand the whole time, and over bumpy terrain, it would be tough on the legs, so you'd have to be in good shape to do it. Quote Link to comment
Twister65
Lookie here! I want one! Guess I should save up for a new GPSMap 60x first, huh? "Up to 12mi/19km off pavement" I can't think of any outings that I've been on where that would have lasted the entire distance. I can only remember a handful of trails that would have been accessible on one of those too. Scott Quote Link to comment
+TheAlabamaRambler
Here's an experienced Segway owner, after riding his Segway on clear and level pavement at the MidWest GeoBash. Seeking a karmic upgrade from Clatmandu's prayer flag. Ed Quote Link to comment
+cache_test_dummies
As most of you know, Dean Kamen was the inventive force behind the Segway®. This cache requires about a mile of hiking through varying terrain, much of which, while not hard to traverse on foot, would not be possible to manage on The Segway® Personal Transporter (PT) x2 Adventure mentioned in the OP. However, the cache also requires donning a set of headphones and listening to a tape. The tape provides the directions needed to find the waypoints of this multi. At one point, the tape suggests you look in a particular direction, where off in the distance, a keen eye will spot a windmill atop a distant hill. That windmill is located at the home of Dean Kamen. And as most of you know, Dean Kamen was the inventive force behind the Segway®. Thank you for reading my contribution to this topic, during which I attempted to link the Segway® to Geocaching. I hope I was successful. Quote Link to comment
+New England n00b
That was a really fun cache, CTD. I liked that one a lot. And I didn't have a Segway. Quote Link to comment
+uxorious
For someone like myself, with limited mobility something like that might be good. I have arthritis in both knees and they are bone on bone when I walk. On a good day two miles is about my limit. (and I will pay for that with pain) I have been working on something that will allow me to go after some of the farther caches. I bought an electric motor for my bicycle, and was surprised how well it works. It just doesn't quite cut it. I have ordered a more powerful motor for a smaller wheeled bike, and hope that will do what I'm looking for. Something to take some of the pressure off my knees, but still has me do some of the work. You would probably find most people who would use something like that are not looking to find all the caches on all the trails, but are trying to extend the range of caches they can go after.
