cache locater
:[i recently retrieved a geocoin "SG****" from a cache and before I drop it at another cache I wanted to see where it had been since the cache from which I found it did not have it listed. When I input the number above my reply stated that it was not activated and I should activate it. Since I did not purchase the geocoin I can't activate it as I do not have the activation code # How can this coin be activated?? How can the owner be located so they can activate it?? Description of the geocoin: One side on the coin shows the world land mass and has 2006 January on top and on the bottom it shows the registered trademark for geocaching with the web address written below. On the reverse side it has the Geocache guy with the serial # sg****. The text above the geocache guy reads "You are the search engine" and the bottom text reads "trackable at geocaching.com" This is the description of the coin but as far as I can tell it has no name. If the coin hasn't been activated yet, the coin might have been left as a trade item. Read through the logs to see who dropped it and if they mention anything about whether it's a traveler or was left as swag. cache locater
The illustration is exactly what the coin looks like. I'll try the 2 links that you provided. Thanks for the help! Quote Link to comment
+mtn-man
I edited the geocoin's tracking number out of the posts. I know a lot of you know this, but there are those that would grab the coin and move it to odd locations just because they can. Please don't post the tracking numbers in the forums, in your logs or in your cache descriptions. Just an FYI. Quote Link to comment
Firefly03
I just wanted to bring to your attention that sometimes if you type in the wrong tracking number it will come up saying that the traveler is not activated. Some of those Signal coins are difficult to read the numbers too. I would suggest also double checking that you got the numbers right. Quote Link to comment
cache locater
Firefly03 is correct in stating the numbers are hard to read. I wasn't sure if the number started with an "S" or an 8 until I looked with a magnifying glass. It was stamped a little off center. Quote Link to comment
