dale hollow lake Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 (edited) I know bells and whistles are xtra but wasnt prepared when i spoke to garmin today, the 2 extra programs ill need for what i will use my gps for will be$139.00 US Inland Lakes, Topo's $116.65. Perhaps you with more experience can tell me about a less exspensive way to go, if there is. My interest is deep woods hiking from high ridges, and the info I need on the lake is only major creek locations, perhaps the topo program alone would address that, if you have an idea i'd love to hear it Edited October 25, 2006 by dale hollow lake Quote
+BlueDeuce Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 A state Gazetteer will cover most of your needs. Costs about 20 bucks. Check the local bookstore. http://www.amazon.com/Kentucky-Atlas-Gazet...TF8&s=books Quote
beauxp Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I am assuming you already have a Garmin unit. You could probaly get by with just the topo software. I just bought a copy of MapSourse Topo USA from www.Pagecomuters.com for $69.14. Quote
+double-z Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Anymore it really ain't the price of the toys that gets ya... it's the price of the "accessories" you need to be able to use the toy as intended that rips a new whole in yer skivvies every single time. In comparison to my other "toys" the GPS is rather cheap. Quote

I got the topo w/the combo pack and it still show creeks and all. There are many copies on the E site. Quote
+welch Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 You might try checking with other vendors and see if they have the maps you want at a slightly cheaper price. I think buying directly from garmin might cost a bit more than from one of the many other places that sell Mapsource maps. Quote
+team5150 Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Wally World online has the topo maps for $74 plus a couple of bucks for shipping. That and a gazetteer, like BD recommends, will get you through. (Wally has the gazetteer available too)... Quote
