+Wazat
Thanks Neville.... It was sort of easy without it. I was always one the ball and eyeing out the caches regularly... But lets see what benefits I can reap from the membership.... Whooooo. The Cache was not as hard as I had expected. And when you did it in 2.5 hours I expected the same. But at just under two hours I managed to surprise myself. And I managed this with a ankle I twisted the day before. And still almost a week later it is pretty tender. Ouch. I looked at the mountain again today from my cache at Sterkfontein view and with a smile, congratulated my efforts to get to the top. It is by no means an easy hike but also not a mountain like one would find in the berg... But every step is worth the effort. The views are stunning and it rates amongst my favorites. Thanks Neville for the cache, the view and the FTF prize.... Quote Link to comment

Have a look at this TB that has been around for awhile also, same kind of idea, but different. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?tracker=TB154Z6 Basically the Tb is a bike that is padlocked close to the cache, the key is then put into the cache for the next finder, who picks it up and cycles it to the next cache. Thought it was a great idea for a TB just like the XXX Edited July 13, 2009 by batsgonemad and his squirrel Quote Link to comment

+Rhino and Hedgehog
A point to note when heading off to Hluhluwe Game Reserve is that the Wild Card is no longer accepted. The Rhino Card still is! The cost of Entry is now R90.00 per person. There fore a car of four adults is R360 and Rhino Card is R495 per annum therefore two days in the reserve and your are quids in! Just a thought. +Skyjuggler
How is everybody going with their 5 cache placements? So far I've placed one, have one ready to go; and my third, I have to place the cache and work on the puzzle. Hoping to find another three spots to make it 6. Noddy: When will the caches be published. Can we expect the KZN cachers to be up and staring at their computers at the stroke of midnight? Or something a little more humane? Next, when should we submit our caches for publication? I assume then we should add a comment to the reviewer, something along the lines of, "For the uber-KZN-cache explosion on the 5th"? +DiePienaars
We have three caches that we run through Fish Eagle, and have two ready for publishing, and another two we are waiting the property owners permission. Do your normal cache publishing, and give FE a note that the cache forms part of the challenge. He will check it out and disable it. See the notes I have received back. “Your cache looks great, and it's ready to publish. When you're ready for publication, just enable it or tick the little box "yes, this cache is active...." on the edit page. Location: Kwazulu Natal, South Africa Fish Eagle temporarily disabled XXXXXXXXX (Not Published) (XXXXX Cache) at 8/4/2009 Log Date: 8/4/2009 Looks good - really interesting location!! Reviewed, ready to publish, and bookmarked for 5 Sept” Now what is my login password, mmmmmmm Quote Link to comment
+Noddy
CHALLENGE Geocaching Spring Growth Update As already mentioned. All caches should be pre-approved by Fish Eagle, by sending him an email with the GC number, indicating that the cache is for the KZN Spring Growth Challenge. He will post a note on the cache, reminding him of the status. Then on the night before you will need to activate the cache (tick the box indicating that it is ready for publishing). As you can see below sunrise is at 06h00. I will therefore ask him to activate all caches at 05h00. This will hopefully release about 50 caches into KZN, giving most a chance for a FTF or more. I will try and set up a event for a week later to hand out the prize and see how many of the caches have been found. All extra caches will be highly appreciated!!! Remember for every 5 caches placed you get an entry into the draw for a geocoin. You have three weeks left, please get placing. Cheers Noddy Saturday 5 September 2009 Universal Time + 2h SUN RISE Begin civil twilight 05:42 Sunrise 06:06 Sun transit 11:54 Sunset 17:43 End civil twilight 18:07 Edited August 11, 2009 by Noddy Quote Link to comment
+Fish Eagle
5am - that could cost you guys a few beers!! Aaaaaish!! There are two ways to get your caches pre-reviewed, either..... 1. Submit the listing for review as usual, but add a reviewer note that it's for 5th Sept. I'll review it, leave a confirmation note (which you'll get by email), bookmark it on my 5 Sept list, and disable the listing to drop it from my current review queue. Since this initiative started, if there hasn't been a reviewer note saying it's for 5 Sept, then I've checked with the owner before publishing it. 2. Leave it as a work-in-progress (untick the box "Yes, this cache is active"), and email me with the GC number. I'll review it, leave a confirmation note (which you'll get by email), and bookmark it on my 5 Sept list. On the evening of 4th Sept, as Noddy said, please enable your caches by ticking the little box on the edit page. I'm OK to publish at 5am, but if there are 50 caches, it could take me 30 mins to publish them. Even though they've been pre-reviewed, I'll still have to give them a final run through before pushing the button. At this stage, I've got 14 caches pre-reviewed, and I can see another 3 WIP's in the pipeline which I think are part of it. Great initiative!! You guys are gonna have a lot of Spring fun!!
