Dancingfool Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 So here is an interesting idea. I have a MtnBike V3 in my collection that I would be interested in swapping with someone. Mine has traveled to some events with me but I have been selective as to who logs it. I have no real attachment to this particular coin # and wonder if there are others. While it is not exactly traveling changing hands is a form of circulation. I know the first MtnBike coin I saw was one that was on loan and did get around. I am really excited about the event and looking forward to meeting everyone Quote
+Cornerstone4 Posted February 2, 2007 Author Posted February 2, 2007 Well... Two weeks from tonight, a huge portion of you will be here in town! Woo Hoo! I know AG is planning a cache run out to the casino, and that group will plan on doing a little gambling, and then caching on their way back. I am going to pick a restaurant in town or maybe a pizza place that has room. I'll have an informal meet and greet there for anyone that wants to stop by. I'll try to find a place with a wifi, so we can have access there. Maybe we could organize some runs from there. It will be a good place to hook up and form a group. Just some idle thoughts.... Quote
+OshnDoc Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Wish I could make it in earlier, but my flight will arrive somewhere around 10 pm in LA. WIll have to wait 'till Saturday to meet everyone. +LadeBear68 Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 I will arrive Wednesday around 12pm and I am planning to be arrested by 5pm that evening for getting too close to the pandas at the San Diego Zoo. Quote
+pixieslayer Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Fortunately, my parents live roughly halfway between Virginia and California, so I won't have to drive the whole stretch at once. I've never been further west than the DFW area, so I'll be caching/sightseeing once I get past there. I'll be gaining two hours, so it's possible I might make it in early enough to hang out. I leave one week from today and I don't think I could be more excited . Quote
+summerandnana Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 As I am reading all the traveling plans I am thinking to myself: Wouldn't it be fun to see all the little travel paths lighting up a map and watching them approach the final destination, Coinfest. I can picture it in my mind, so cool, can't wait. Who is practicing their poker skills? Quote
+The Moop Along Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Who is practicing their poker skills? Since summerandnana so kindly lead me into this reply, I figure I'll drop in a note here. I know most if not all the attendees are watching this topic. I invite you all to reread the poker rules section at http://www.geocoinfest.com/website/gamerules.html. Please take special note of the coin buyin guidelines and game play (standard WSOP rules apply, unless noted). For those who play poker frequently, this game will be much faster than normal. It's just the nature of the time slot we have available. I'd like to just walk around and enjoy the action, not police any tables. . . . I anticipate quite a fun and challenging game, so do practice up I know I'm excited, I hope you all are too!! Quote
+0R0B0RUS Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Who is practicing their poker skills? Me, I'm strictly a novice. Are you kidding? Everytime I sit at my computer my little Texas Hold'em widget is running. I downloaded Texas Hold'em to my cellphone and now play that when commuting. My family is sick of watching the World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker reruns on TV. But seriously, just wondering, any pro's playing? Quote

But, I'm sure that someone lurking out there has played once or twice before . . . . Poker--is that the one with the dice or the cards??? As a matter of fact, there are casino and card parlors in the area, and some folks play, on special occasions. (Like the first Thursday of the week. ) My only question about the rules is the end game--if everyone is all-in and the chip leader wins the pot, how will you determine second and third place? ParentsofSAM Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 We have been practicing poker...but since we have never played with real people before I am not sure how good we will do! I hope the tables are nice and friendly so when I forget how much the call is or to post my blind they gently remind me. I am so excited! We may not do any of the activities on Friday night as we will just be getting there on Friday and we will have to spend a little time with the family. (e.g. all but one player go out on the same hand...) Dave_W6DPS This one is easy. Finish ranking if more than one player goes out on any particular hand is determined by intital starting chips when the hand is dealt. More chips is the higher finisher. Players eliminated on the same deal who start with equal chips receive equal prize distribution. With only three places paying out, at 50%, 30%, 20%, the only tie option is between 2nd and 3rd, in which case each participant would receive 25%. Players: Please don't feel like you have to memorize all the WSOP rules. I will have a copy with me, as well as intimiate knowledge of most of them anyway. I have no vested prize interest here, so it will all be by the book. Quote

I've changed my mind at least a dozen times on which coins to use for my 3 coin buy-in. I LOVE to gamble but normally I stick to the Black-Jack tables and have only played poker at home. I'm thinking of bringing coloring books and crayons for them, maybe some cards...any suggestions? Woo hoo. This time next week we will be wrapping up our day at Legoland. :-D Quote
