+Tizzie Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Last summer, just before I discovered geocaching, I bought a couple of walking poles. They have since come in very useful for poking around in nettles and brambles as well as their intended use! They are Leki Pathfinders, they extend to 115cm. I got them because they were the cheapest at £19.95 each. I later discovered they are intended for children (or small/light adults!) Having just bought some more poles, these are now just sitting there, so if anyone is interested in making an offer .... Quote
+S&G.Davison Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 We've just invested in Leki's - not sure if the primary purpose was for walking or looking for caches. Seem to do both equally well. Sue Quote
+derrylynne Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 There’s no doubt poles come in handy for poking around in the scrub for caches. Derry’s has come in handy many times. There is a definite platic thud when the tip hit’s a lunch box. Now come on I am talking about a cache. The most notable was pulling a cache out of gorse - so saving a bit of pain. Lynne does not use one but Derry swears by one with all the hills around here… Quote
+FollowMeChaps Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Has everyone forgotten the good old fashioned walking stick? not only can you poke around with it but you can also pull things as well. Obviously less "trendy", or should that be "cool" though. Quote
