Delete Map from Garmin GPSMAP 60

Hi All,

I loaded a map on my garmin GPSMAP 60 that is locked and I am not going to unlock. I copied it from a friends PC when I connected my device there. How can I get rid of that? whenever I turn on the device I get a "cant unlock map" error message, and then it switches on to the generic map, which is fine, but I want to get rid of the map and the message. I have no other maps loaded on my device, except the one that is coming with the device. Do I need to load something there in order to overwrite this? how does it work?

Please help me!

Regards

You delete Garmin maps by loading a new mapset. There is no "delete maps." function AFAIK. But there is a trick. If you have MapSource, instead of loading a map, you can download the tide tables used in the GPSMap 162 or 168 and load them into a 60/76. Mount10bike gives details in this thread. These tide tables are loaded on the non-x units until you load other maps. They will show up as a map type in the drop-down of MapSource.
