The EAM Team Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 We don't even have our GPS yet -- WHY oh WHY did I chose the cheaper, slower shipping method? -- but we went out today to try to find a cache hidden on one of our semi-regular hiking spots. We found it! My sons started dancing around and screaming "Treasure! Treasure!" and were overjoyed with their plastic trinkets. I'm so excited, I just had to share! I'm jonesing for another cache! GarminNavigator Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Huh.. Geocaching without a GPS unit, now theres a new sport Hope you enjoy it, sounds like your hooked already I know your sons are probably young, but its a good way to introduce them gradually into map reading, and compass usage. Good skills to have Quote
+team5150 Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Congrats on your first find!!! Welcome to the fun/addiction!!!! Quote
+blindleader Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Huh.. Geocaching without a GPS unit, now theres a new sport Not so new. Many of us found our first few caches without GPS, and quite a few people have many hundreds of finds, all without GPS. There are many different ways to play. Quote
The EAM Team Posted October 8, 2006 Author Posted October 8, 2006 Well, we only did it that way because I knew exactly where the place was and I read the clues and all. I'm hunting for another one for today. Quote
