Wierdest thing you have ever found in a cache

Recommended Posts

HOWEVER, when a cacher feels it's their "right" to place adult matter into a cache, I simply would say FIND ANOTHER HOBBY. If you enjoy trading condoms with other people, joy a "sauna club".

DonB!

I totally see your point, but as a Finn, should take your statement about "sauna club" as an insult?

Okay, that was a joke, obviously you do not know much about the sauna culture, there's nothing sexual in it...

I'm sorry but realy this whole debate on condoms in a cache is a bit over the top, children who dont know what they are already arnt suddenly going to find out from a wrapper that lets face it is normaly descreet enough so that it could contain anything. And the children that already know what they are arnt going to care if thry are in there or not. If you can see them in a petrol station or a service station or even in a dispenser in a public toilet, does that mean that your going to avoid taking your your children into those estblishments? and rember an individual condom had relativly low value so i would be more worried that if you only find one that somone hasnt been trading fairly :(;)

Another question, would anyone even USE a condom that they found in a cache?... And yes, this sentence could be twisted and turned into a joke: some examples to get you started:

- Depends if there is room enough for 2 in the cache...

- why would you do that to a cache?

We've all found some wierd stuff. What was the number one craziest/sickest/straight-up effed up thing you found in a cache.

Personally, I found a dime-bag on one of my adventures a cache in down-town LA

Someone's 2 teeth...roots and all.

While in Idaho, near Priest River, I squatted down to expose the cache and just happened to look up and there was the head of a young buck. :) Looks like he had been there a short while. No odor - but it was early spring. I grabbed the cache, still wondering how this heaqd got to be where it was. Signed the log and exchanged items. I walked around a different way than I had approached the cache and in the water, Priest River?, was the bloated body of what I thought was a moose but it could have been a deer. :)

So looks like someone was poaching for sure. :D

I had to move my one cache, Durand's Patent, (in the Sacramento Delta) because another cacher alerted me to the fact that the path used to get in the general location of my cache was being used as a latrine. Human feces. :):) I promptly relocated the cache - but, to fellow cachers, it seems to have lost its luster to go after. :) Hopefully, cachers will again start visiting the cache. :D

What's the problem with unopened condoms? Strange item to trade, but they don't bite. You should know where 'some' people wear them! To eliminate the 'but my kid could see it'- argument: A condom (or it's packaging) will not do any damage to your kid's eyes. It will not cause brain damage. I reckon seeing a Britney Spears video is more damaging to your kid than the sight of an unopend condom wrapper.

If you want your children to be safe from these 'harmful' parafenalea in cache containers, don't take them geocaching. The point of the game is finding boxes wherein strangers trade stuff. These boxes are without supervision, out in the open. Doesn't sound like a child-safe game to me...

Are you kidding me? Geocaching, according to the website, is a family sport. People are supposed to realize that a five year old might be looking with their parents. A condom is totally contrary to the guidelines that Groundspeak intends the sport to follow. We take our five kids with us all the time. The oldest is 10, the youngest is not even one. We love it.

I would hope that people would respect that fact and remember it before they put any adult material in a cache.

For you me or anyone to know what something is we need to be told. so if you find a condom in a cache it really as simply as not telling them what it is. Its not hard core porn. Its just a square plastic packet to the un-educated I think people are overacting.

And anyway I believe try to protect our children from sexually knowledge and responsibility too much. And this is reason I believe for increasing problems with teenage pregnancy and spread of STI.

I could think of a few more valid reasons - but this is not the place...

A dead cow. Near my first cache. I placed it in the early evening and didn't see it. FTF found the skull and legs right next to my hide.

I found a baboon skull earlier in the day on the way to a cache. Got it here at home as a caching collectible.

I didn't find it in the cache, and it was before the Cache was there.

I was sledding at the area right next to where the cache would be in the future, when I ran right into a MUTALATED DEER, the only things left were the head and antlers, and skin on the legs, the rest was torn out, probably by the neighboring Cougar, who lives across the street.:sad: But I screamed like a girl, and told all of my friends to come and look at it!

The cache is called Dirt Hills, due to the Dirt Bike Jumps below the cache area, and the area I was sledding in was to the left of the cache.

The weirdest thing I've found so far (not that I've found many caches yet...) is just a small package of Trojan Twisted Pleasure condoms. Just so happens that this was today (Dec. 6, 2008)

While doing this cache (GC1C2Q4) we found a bridal magazine, rained on and faded, inside the front cover was written with a sharpie "How could you do this to me, We were going to be married. I Loved you", and in the magazine a few dresses were circled with small notes near them.

It really creeped us out, but we didnt find and dead ladies...

Found a turtle in a cache, hopefully placed by a muggle, since the last log had been 2 days before, and they hadn't mentioned it. Released him, and off he, umm, ran...kinda.

I found a condom twice both of them werent open though. But a murder! Like you Found! what did u do?

I found a bag that seid "snake eggs" and when i opened it a washer that had an elastic went crazy and it scared the crap out of me!

Sorry but that is really funny. I think I would have done the same thing, if of course i had the courage to even open the bag. thanks for the laugh

haha i remember those from middleschool.

This was not in a cache, but right next to one. Someone had taken a 50lb rice bag (like the ones purchased by eating establishments) and stuffed a dead deer carcass into it before dumping it next to the cache. I got a chuckle as I teased my caching companion about the whole "mystery meat" debate over Chinese food (still tastes good to me)!

:)

Same here about the dead dear, at 2 caches  !

Sick, not Weird would be a bucket of dead worms that stenched up the travelers. _ This was in Eastern part of our state where it was summer And hot!

The deer being hidden like that are probably people with out a hunting license or people that shot an illegal deer (underweight, wrong sex, too small antlers, out of season etc.)

At the begining of bow season here in Michigan I was hunting a cache on state land.(GC15QW6) I was lookind down at my GPSr and didn't noticve that i was standing a few feet from a live injured doe. I called the DNR and they said they would send someone out. Apparently they did not. As i was getting the cache # I saw this Log from 12 days later.

"TFTC!

Note: for anyone planning on doing this cache in the next few days with children or weak stomachs; there was a decaying deer about 25 yards away from this cache. I am contacting DNR as it was just off the walking trail."

I found a dozen or so little green army men in a cache. And a couple of bouncey balls that were....Dirty! B)

Do not worry, I am OK and I remembered to do a little CITO. I took the trash out of the cache and replaced it with some "good" swag! :)

Whats wrong with little green army men and bouncy balls. what you define as "Good swag." may not be to others and what if the next person to go to that cache collects dirty bouncy balls and little green army men you would have spoiled their trading. :) well at least your spelling was correct and you didnt put a dead lady next to the cache for some one to find.

this was probably intended as a kids cache and you should have left it fifty fifty with the "trash" and good swag. B)

After finding GC331A "Scattered Remains" back in 2006; I came upon a pile of slaughtered pigs. Needless to say the trip back to the car was a bit quicker.

Found a cache one time...The container was an Ammo Box...Somebody had forgotten to shut the lid all the way...

This cache was like a 4 mile hike back in the woods and hadnt been found for months...So I decided to check it out...I got there and saw the lid was open...and was thinking oh great...everything is going to be soaked....

I opened the box and about 5 million red fire ants came out after me...I'll have to upload some pics when I get home...It was filled to the top with an ant colony...

Needless to say, it got archived not too long after that...lol

I dont even know what was in there...

Probably the worst thing to find in any cache container is plain ol' water. I've seen a couple of cheapa** tupperware substitutes out here placed near creeks, and the hi-tech neanderthals who palced them idn't take into account that CREEKS RISE, or that WATER FALLS FROM THE SKY.

Log books were soaked and slimy, and every trade item was covered in mold. Hubby is deathly allergic to mold, so I don't let him pop the tops on those (*(&^% plastic containers any more. Not unless these stupid suburban cachers are willing to pay the hospital bills.

I haven't found this IN a cache persay, my father found a fake rubberized human skull on the top of a phone booth outside his local liquor store on Halloween (kinda fitting huh LOL), he hollowed the thing out and put a cache inside it and put the skull in the Y of a tree and covered it with bark. It was meant for a funny "scare" tactic for the local cachers and they all got a kick out of it. here's the cache page http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...b0-1f273bc37d31

For some reason every time we go hunting for caches we find at least one golf ball and we usually leave it in the cache. We don't play golf but if you did it would be a great find depending on the brand.

a toy cellphone for toddlers, probably fisher price or something. It started ringing when we opened the containers, and until we identified the source of the noise I was a little freaked out.

That was today

A hotel room key...

I traded for it just for fun.

After leaving the cache I realized I could not keep it because if my wife found it I am not sure she would believe I got it out of a cache, since there was no logical reason for taking it.

So I threw it out pretty quickly.

Smart move, very smart.

i agree that it ws a nice move but what if there was somthing at the hotel for the person to get when they grabbed the key. i think that i wouldve atleast takin it to the hotel maniger or somthing. who knows what was there or wasnt there.

In a cache today I found an alarm clock branded with the logo of a pet cemetery. Imagine waking up to that every morning, it would be a constant reminder that your beloved pet was going to die at some point

I'm very new also. I have hidden 3 caches so far. I have been trying to leave trinkets that would appeal to men, women and children/adults.

I'll tell you though -- what's good swag to some may not be for others.

I'm 46 years old and I left my small Yoshi car/action figure in one of the caches. I loved that little thing.. it was a prize at one of my friend's recent partys.

So toys aren't necessarily just for kids. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I load my caches with stuff I would like to find and stuff my 3 yo niece and 9 yo nephew would like.

I have left chewing gum in one cache so maybe that wasn't such a good idea. :(

This is absolutely hilarious! I laughed out loud until my sides hurt.

A few years ago I stopepd at a convenience store while on a long drive to Cali, I couldn't help but pick up an envelope that said "snake eggs". When I opened it wow did I get a shock. The rubber band spun the washer against the sides of the envelope and it sounded like a rattlesnake (which are quite common in my area), I promplty yelped and threw the envelope violently at the cashier. She burst out laughing and gave me the gag gift for free .

Since then I've had good luck keeping it in the refridgerator for when unsuspecting house guests go to get something to drink.

Unfortunately, I found a rattlesnake guarding the cache! Doublely bad, didn't know it was there til I tried to put the cache back!

Oh yeah, and just this weekend I went to a cache called "<--- take a shot --->" that had a good assortment of discarded meat products strewn all around GZ... All rotting and smelling like a dead carcass of course...

I haven't found anything too crazy, aside from what I deem as sub par swag... but on my first caching experience ever (found about it one night, saw one near home and headed out) I found a dildo on a stick propped up against the stump the cache was in... I remember thinking "Is this part of the cache?"

Weirdest thing that we have found so far in our limited caching experience, was this summer. Momma Caswell found her father's highschool senior photo from 1971 in a cache! Took it back to Grandpa's house and he verified that it really was his senior photo.
