+Moose Mob
If there were a Mega event held in Las Vegas, would you attend? What owuld you expect to have occur at such an event? It's still a rumor at this point, but the planning has begun. There is a certain focus on geocoins, but we aren't gooing to limit ourselves to that. So, let's hear your thoughts about what would make this cool. Quote Link to comment
+Sanruft
A lot would depend on the dates considered...When are you planning this? Sounds like fun though! Quote Link to comment
+nfa
If it ends up being at the beginning of April, I'm in, and would love to attend!!! Jamie - NFA {{{although I likely shouldn't vote, as I live in the Northeast...}}} Quote Link to comment
2oldfarts (the rockhounders)
Mega - meaning Geocachers from all over the world, since Vegas is known to be 'the' vacation destanation spot. This could be very interesting indeed. We would consider it fun to meet a lot of 'colorful GCrs' from around the world. This would have to be held at a fairly large place/area and have camping & low cost rooms available, NOT held from the middle of June thru August - anytime during the winter thru the spring would be wonderful weather for such an event. It would be fun to have a raffle...maybe buy tickets for some very special items and you would NOT have to be in attendance to win. This way, some people could be included that could not attend but would like to be involved. Just rambling till we see what time period you are considering.... Shirley~ Quote Link to comment
+Moose Mob
Dates???? How about Feb 10th as one option. It's between the Superbowl on the 3rd and the NBA all stars (or something) on the 17th (ish) April? maybe a possibility if we can't find a meeting room on the 10th that will hold a bunch of people. Question: Would you pay $30 for a sit down banquet style meal? (tax and gratuity included) Yes, Jamie, your vote counts. Edited September 22, 2006 by Moose Mob Quote Link to comment
+redstareg
FYI, A MEGA event is already very well into the planning stages for the West Coast (San Diego) for June 23, 2007. See 2007 San Diego Summer Geocaching Bash in the West and Southwest forums. Quote Link to comment

See 2007 San Diego Summer Geocaching Bash in the West and Southwest forums. I believe there is room for both. Ours is likely to occur in February and has a geocoin theme (see thread). Yours looks to have an ESRI theme. When it all falls out, it'll just be a heck of a lot of geocachers! And I will try to be in SD for yours! The more I think about it, I don't think these are that much competion with each other. And there is a lot of good reason to promote each other's events. Quote Link to comment

In fact, you and I need to keep in touch Moose Mob. We are also planning a Mega in Feb/Mar. If you end up booking Feb, then we will slide to March. Our little Temecula Valley event hit about 300 people last year without really pushing it. We are planning on going MEGA this year! C4 Quote Link to comment

Jake - Team A.I.
Is this still planning to be a Geocoin event... with possible geocaching related activities... or has it been turned into a mega event with possible geocoin related activities? Quote Link to comment
+Moose Mob
Is this still planning to be a Geocoin event... with possible geocaching related activities... or has it been turned into a mega event with possible geocoin related activities? No, it's still very much a geocoin event. Folks that have no strong interest in geocoins will have plenty to do. Quote Link to comment
+3cd's
Been a while since I have been to Vegas. We live in Southern Ca. So yes we will be there! Quote Link to comment
+ShowStop
If you plan it, I'll try to attend. I'll be out in LV next month, but I dont mind heading out there again for a mega event. Sounds like fun. I'm cool with the banquet fee. Quote Link to comment
+Team Reid
If the weekend's right, Team Reid will be there! We're always up for a quick trip to Vegas. The senior member of Team Reid just loves to drive us there for vacation. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help with the planning or dispersing of info to our area. Thanks for getting this going! Team Reid Quote Link to comment

+CraigInCT
Just give us long distance travelers enough time to still get a good deal on airfare. February would have temps below 110 right? Quote Link to comment

+maggieszoo
Event in Las Vegas? We are SO there!! Wafflesdad and I go to Vegas at least once a year. Mom has a timeshare on the strip she'll let us use. Just need to come up with a rental car and some $$. Quote Link to comment
+Blue J Wenatchee
Count me in. I have a timeshare in Vegas so just need to know the date. I would prefer April but February works for me too. I will be in Vegas Oct 22-26 this month doing some caching in the area. It would be good to go to a Mega coin event. I will have to bring an extra bag with just coins in it though. +rjb2001
Never been to a geocaching event, mega or otherwise, just started caching. I have never cached in Nevada, so would get to check off another state. I am already a geocoin nut, so way cool theme. I LOVE Vegas. Count me in! February would be a good time. Could actually venture out of the air conditioned casinos and find some caches without threat of heat stroke. Edited October 4, 2006 by rjb2001 Quote Link to comment
+Vegas Gamblers
Lets see, we will be in Vegas next week for seven days. That leaves us four months or so to make travel plans. Hmmm another excuse to get to Vegas........Thirty dollar meal.........Vegas..........More caches in Nevada........Vegas...........Lets just say with our Geocaching name we really don't need an excuse to get to Vegas, but an event would be great. We will be watching the thread. Quote Link to comment
