+lordelph Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 RIP Quest for the Ring of Power I hope the locations in this cache are part of a new multi before long Quote
+rutson Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Is it flowers or donations to charity? There WILL be a funeral for my favorite cache, right? Quote
The Royles Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Hopefully Golem will bring it back from the dead For now though, farewell to an epic cache. Quote
+KiwiGary Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 That is a real shame, as I was keen to try that one. Maybe we could set up another one, in the real middle earth "New Zealand" when we get back. Sad day indeed.... Quote
+Write and Mane Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 We had this cache on our "to do" list Sorry that it's been archived Quote
+mongoose39uk Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Shame to see it go as it was one that I wanted to do. However having read through what Golem has said recently it may be back sooner rather than later. Quote
+CrazyL200 Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Shame, it's on my list of must do's one day (or two or so ...). Maybe distance from cache was a problem for the owner - moved from Essex to Yorkshire and the cache is in the Lake District Reading between the lines ............. Good luck Golem. Quote
+The Bongtwashes Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Not the way I wanted to remove it from my Must Do list. I hope The Golem can resurrect it before I actually get to visit those parts. Quote
+The Golem Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Looks like I'll have to put my money where my mouth is - I'll look into it next week when I get back from Lancashire... Quote

Sparticus Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Come on Golem. Do it for the cachers. The quest is certainly an epic one. It took five of us and a dog, ten hours non stop searching to complete. It rates as my number one cache. some caches come close, but this really is an epic . Quote

+lordelph Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 I'd love it if someone would return Isildur's Bane to a resurrected "Mount Doom" Quote
+The Golem Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 The Fellowship of the Ring is abroad once more - Frodo, Sam and Gollum will soon be venturing into the wilds to start the quest anew... Soon you will be able to search for the preciousss... In plain English, Scaw has kindly supplied three fully stocked caches which Fellsmanhiker and I will be placing as close to the original locations as possible later this week. I've retrieved the first stage from it's hiding place in a dry stone wall and I'll be putting it back nearby soon - hopefully the whole thing will be up and running within the next week or so. The only difference is that each stage will now be loggable rather than there just being one cache for all your efforts. Quote
+The HERB5 Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 You wanna try grabbing this, it's a beaut... I'm glad to say I brought it to England but it soon whizzed off to the USA... Quote
+The Golem Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I've just returned from the Quest for the Ring of power, all of the original caches except stage 1 are still in place and I've moved stage 4 as it was in a dry stone wall. I will replace stage 1 close to it's orignal location and hopefully I'll have the whole series up and running again in a day or two - I'll post an update here when I have some more info... Quote

+The Golem Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Well it took a bit of faffing about but I've managed to get the series up and running again. All of the caches are in their original locations except for stage 3 which had to be moved due to it being on Forestry Commission Land. Link A big thanks to Deceangi for approving everything so quickly! Quote
+CrazyL200 Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Well done Golem, it's now back on my list of things to do before I keel over !!! Quote
lakeuk Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Good to see it backup again, now need to courage to venture abit more into Stage2, didn't have a good enough powerful torch and I hate not being able to see where I'm putting my feet Like how you've separated it all out into caches that can be logged separately. I notice that the map references for Stages 1,2,4,5 all point to Stage1's location but stage 3 points elsewhere, I assume they should all point to the starting point. Quote
