+Foinavon
This is wierd. I have had this idea for a puzzle cache for several months and I finally decided to implement it. I have spent the last two weeks or so preparing the puzzle. I was just ready to place this week. This weekend I looked at the new caches that appeared and thought "uh oh theres one very near my intended one" , then when I saw the theme of the puzzle I realised its in the exact same spot and I had been beaten me to it by a day! So today I went to the location for a find and not a hide. The funny thing is I don't have a clue how to solve the puzzle to get the actual numbers but its theme which was the same as mine was to be gave away the location. I have some more ideas for caches at particular locations so I had better get to it! Quote Link to comment

+housefamily
I have some more ideas for caches at particular locations so I had better get to it! Absolutely. I had a great idea for a cache, and was slow to place it, only to find that a well-known cacher in my local area had had almost exactly the same idea, and had already placed the cache. Perhaps we should have a way to trademark cache ideas... Quote Link to comment
+Pharisee
Two or three years back when there were only a handful of local cachers, we'd e-mail each other prior to setting a cache to see if anyone else had one in the 'pipeline' for that particular area. Now there are just too many cachers to even consider doing that. Quote Link to comment
+Foinavon
what cache is it? It was This one if the owner is reading, please don't think i am having a whinge. I think its quite funny and clever what you have done. Quote Link to comment
+HazelS
Here in Wirral a couple of us will kind of tell each other where we intend to place new caches - not exact locations, but "within the vicinity of" kind of thing... Works well... Quote Link to comment
+Eckington
It is, of course, possible to submit the final location for review, with an assurance that the cache will be placed within a reasonable time, and we will review the location and keep it on hold for you, for a while anyway Quote Link to comment

Thanks for letting us know / reminding us about this. I've been planning a series for the best part of 6 months now, and am getting close to placing them all, and everytime I get a new cache notification EMail I wonder if it's going to be withing 0.1 of my intended targets! +The Bolas Heathens
Not so much been beaten to a hiding place, but someone did use an idea we had for an offset multi round Market Drayton before I'd got round to doing anything other than scouting out the trail. Not problem though as we got to do their cache ourselves and it was made all the easier by the fact that I had photos of all the virtuals at home so could go straight to the final cache and get a FTF easily . +Pieman
Earlier this year I was scouting possible locations one Sunday and decided to check out a place called Spud Wood. I walked all over the wood and decided there was only one possible location to put a cache but it was too small for what I wanted. Three days later Astrodon placed Cheshire Taters. I didn't even switch on the GPS but walked right to the spot I had looked and got a rare FTF! Quote Link to comment
Deceangi
Typical my colleagues soliciting bribes behind my back . Well I'm cheaper than either of those 2 mines a sparkling......................water even cheaper if you catch me at a event and ask nicely Quote Link to comment

+Eckington
Who reviews the caches for Northern Ireland? If you state that your cache is in UK then one of us will, if you state it is in Ireland then ~erik~ will. Quote Link to comment

+gazooks
Last July I had an idea for a miscro at each of the Cambridge Park & Ride Sites which pointed to a final hidden somewhere near the hub of the system. I applied for permission from the council but was rejected as 7/7 had just occurred and they were worried about strange persons sculking about there sites. They suggested leaving it for 9-12 months and retrying. In March this year I was just about to retry when up popped caches in the Park & Ride sites. Even the cache names were the same as I had intended with a final near the hub..... I was flabbergasted - the only differance was that I was going to use a normal sized cache as the final and this was another micro. The owner got into trouble though because he had not got permission and had to move them. _ but I got 5 x FTF's though before he moved them. Quote Link to comment
+Yorkypudding
Hi, After Hazels had visited Sheffield and asked if there were some city centre caches , which there wasnt. I felt ashamed of the fact that there werent any. So I set about with ideas of where to place some, bought some micros, etc. Then I told another local cacher my idea the following week they had set them all, I was amazed and thought well at least it means I can log them instead. I have learnt to keep my mouth schtum from now on. Also near where we live there is a few walks that we now of with certains features and we had every intention to place a cache there but then someone else beat us to it., so they must read our minds too. We just need to get on with it quicker but its difficlut when you work or youve been ill and you can only place at the weekends. Never mind theres is still plenty of place to hide but Im keeping my mind ablank lol which shouldnt be hard. Yorkypudding and hubby. Quote Link to comment
+Family Hodge
In the space of a month i was beaten to 3 locations .By someone who's name is very similar my my own (hodge). Although i was disappointed i think the of series of caches placed were a lot better thought out than anything i could have set. .I am however trying very hard not to rush out and place new caches ,just so i have a loction first. EagleOwl
A local cacher tells the tale finding a cache whilst out scouting for hiding places. It was a puzzle cache so saved a little working out as well! Quote Link to comment
