moonpup
Hi all, Just curious how many of you participate on Waymarking.com and do you find it as enjoyable as Geocaching? Link to comment

Most, if not all, of the people who participate in the Waymarking forum are participating in Waymarking I agree, not a very usefull question if it's in the appropriate section. Personnally I don't venture in Waymarking and have not participated, I find that since it's been removed from the normal day to day of geocaching it has been removed from the game. I wish Locationless caches had been keep where they were, they were okay and anybody who did not like them simply did not have to play. Link to comment

Most, if not all, of the people who participate in the Waymarking forum are participating in Waymarking True. But move it to that other place, and it will most likely become another 'I-hate-Waymarking-bring-back-virtuals' thread. With regard to the OP, I am a Waymarking participant. Currently, my interest is in locating and creating new waymarks rather than finding waymarks created by others. Sounds kinda geeky, but I actually find this process to be interesting and educational. I have also really enjoyed the process of creating new categories, and participating in the management of those categories and others. But I still enjoy geocaching. It's hard to compare the two activities directly, since they are so different. Like comparing swimming and chess. Link to comment

I have a fun time Waymarking the things I'm interested in. I'd like to do more, but may have to wait until there's a way for me to keep the details in a PDA or something. Link to comment
moonpup
As others have agreed with me, that's why I originally posted in the Geocaching Off Topic forum because I wanted to see how many Geocachers participated Can we move this back? Link to comment
+mtn-man
Off Topic really isn't the right place. If you want, I could move it to the Geocaching Topics area. I think that would be more appropriate since the topic deals with GPS usage. Link to comment
moonpup
That's OK with me...thanks. Link to comment
+kayak-cowboy
Nope, Just a Geocacher here. I looked at the Waymarking site a few times but didn't find it interesting and not very user friendly. That's just my opinion though. Kayak-Cowboy Link to comment
+Oreo Pony
I participate as more places are Waymarked in my area. I have published a few and anticipate publishing more. With regard to the forum a topic is in, it's a moot point for me. I don't surf the forums by category. I always click "View New Posts." I always get topical topics that way. Link to comment
+BruceS
I do a bit of Waymarking I used to do a bit of geocaching but don't anymore. Link to comment
+ChapterhouseInc
whit the state of Waymarking in my area i: geocache (or whenever i move about), looking for things to submit to Waymarking. i monitor 'my area' for new marks to 'visit', and when i travel i use a geocache to search the coords for wamarks to 'visit'. seems like a good place to insert the info i have--ranking for # of waymarks submitted/approved. there are more than 200 users, it is just that 200 register in the results. i have no information on visiting waymarkers. this is only waymark owners. Though there are 'hundreds' of waymarkers, there are few 'regulars'--less than fifty have triple digit numbers (a rate of submitting 8.5 waymarks a month=2 a week); a note about 'us', is that 'we' have been 'users' for a a full calander year. the Waymarking 'world' has been growing for a short time. with new visitors (mostly cachers finding a link to it, or maybe some special group that uses the 'Waymarking game' to further their other pursits: See ANWB Paddenstoelen), to the site and each time there is a new 'update' to the site those that were disintrested might become more acquainted. the numbers are wrong.....this # includes all waymarks you have ever created ('archived', maybe 'saved but not submitted'). when i click on 'my waymarks' it shows a number lower than this, and of these some are 'S N S', 'approved', and 'denied' but being saved for the right category to appear...... +frivlas
Hey ChapterhouseInc, Where did you find those numbers? As to the original post....I waymark and I love it. I cache in conjunction with Waymarking. Seperate but both equally fun obsessions....er...I mean hobbies. Link to comment
+KG1960
I do both geocaching and Waymarking. They are different enough that I can't directly compare them with each other. I greatly enjoy hunting for a cache in the woods - perhaps my favorite outdoor actvity. I also like Waymarking. I have visited historically or otherwise interesting places that I not have otherwise bothered with. I have learned some tidbits of historical information that I didn't know before, and I find that quite interesing. So far I have published two waymarks and visited 13 others. Not high numbers but the first one was done in the first week of August. I plan on increaasing those number as I get the opportunities to do so. Link to comment
+robert
I enjoy both, but find myself seeing things to waymark when just out and about, while I don't get much of a chance for that with geocaching (not a huge fan of urban micros). I've got a few spots I need to go back to in order to get a picture and some coords, I really need to keep my camera with me at all times. Link to comment
+Black Dog Trackers
I like Waymarking. I think it's fun to establish waymarks. I tried geocaching but I did not find it interesting to do. I like benchmark hunting the most. There are many interesting aspects to it, I feel. Everyone likes different things. That's a good thing. Link to comment
