Language Translation

Recommended Posts

this might apply to travel bugs travelling 'abroad' as well.

categories of waymarks found outside english speaking countries are being formed, and waymarks are being submitted to 'english based' categories in non-english speaking countries, therefore, something should be addressed to correct the language barrier.

Waymarking is 'running on a wikipedia like process' [did you hear the story on NPR this morning?]. when navigating that site, your 'first click' is to choose a language. it is language-centric to make waymarkers include 'english' on their pages--and it will add clutter to the page.

this was scripted after i viewed a library description that was not in english. it is virtually useless to me. it could not even be about the library in question. yes, one could find an online translator, but this just adds more to the process.

much like the 'encrypt/decrypt' function on logs, there should be a function to 'translate/untranslate' on logs, cache pages, waymark descriptions, and any other page on a Groundspeak website. it would be swell to say 'only english' but what if one wants to see that it of a non-english origin, and see the original text.
