+Romans1116
I'd like to establish a category to waymark barns, as in barns on a farm, that have hex signs on them. These barns are predominantly in Pennsylvania Dutch (German) country, but can be found in other germanic areas, and, I'd imagine, in other places, too. Hex Signs were originally placed on barns to ward off evil spirits and witchcraft. These days they are usually said to be "just for nice." They come many different styles as do the barns on which they are placed. Some are painted, some are carved, some are painted on a wooden or metal circle and applied. If you're interested in supporting this category, please consider joining the new group, Hex Barn Managers at http://www.Waymarking.com/groups/details.a...88-ddcca2d9d234. +ChapterhouseInc
how about providing some examples (links/images with 'description')? are these going to be 'publicly accessable'? Link to comment
+Romans1116
I don't have time for a week or two to get out and take pictures, but here is a link to a barn that would meet the criteria: http://travel.webshots.com/photo/65183030/...039037642VcWEKS. Wouldn't it be nice if it were waymarked so that we could go see it?! Barns will be publicly accessible in terms of viewing from the roadside in almost all cases. For more information, see http://www.fiddlersgreen.net/buildings/new...rn/pa-dutch.htm Thanks for asking for more! how about providing some examples (links/images with 'description')? are these going to be 'publicly accessable'? +8Nuts MotherGoose
I've seen one on a house - Keep that in mind while producing a category. Link to comment
