+GlobalRat Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Check out this chaps megaGPS. Landy and myself found this chap trawling the streets in Gardens. Ok, so it isn’t really a GPS. It was however linked to a Garmin Quest and some other recording gadget. The unit the guy is holding measures cellphone signal strength and the Garmin the position. So next time you complain to Vodacom about poor signal strength and they say they’ve tested it and it’s fine! Now you know why, look at the friggin aerial on that thing! I still wanted to compare what I was receiving on my phone compared to the uber yellow signal sucker thingy, but the guys weren’t too friendly. Quote
+Brick Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Verrry COOL, but it's still smaller than the one Noddy has !!! Quote
+QFC Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 But....... Noddy's GPS can store readable waypoints. Quote
+vespax Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 That thing makes you want to play teather ball, doesn't it? The Trimble units sometimes require the use of a backpack! Quote
cache-fan Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 The right answer is in the detail, you will notice that the unit is yellow, therefore it must belong to MTN! Cache Fan -pro Vodacom Quote
+Whostops Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 At least Noddy can use his as a brick when the brakes on his bakkie give in. Shame don't pick on him, it's his Birthday !!!! Quote
aardLek Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 At least Noddy can use his as a brick .... lol And Brick can use his GPSr as a noddy. Quote
+batsgonemad and his squirrel Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 maybe Noddy watches TV on his gps. Quote
+Noddy Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 I think you guys must all chip together to buy me one of those toys. What else does it do? Quote
+Team_Farmers Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 What else does it do? hmmm... well, I'm sure if he falls into the ocean, it will keep him afloat Quote
+Noddy Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I was just thinking what would happen if you fell down the hill, like I did at On your way out. That thing would likely kill you if it hit you on the head. Quote
+QFC Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 You, fell down A hill? Weren't you still carrying around you mini-GPS (aka the normal sized on for most people). What happens on the next hill when your TV screen, I mean GPS clubs you to death? Quote
+GlobalRat Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 I was just thinking what would happen if you fell down the hill, like I did at On your way out. That thing would likely kill you if it hit you on the head. I hear this model has a self deploying zorb so you would have been ok It also comes with a handy scrambling device which kills all other cachers signals in a 1 km radius so you're ensured of a relaxed FTF and watching the game when the chase is on You'll need to start flying Jumbo's if you wanna fit that thing in the cockpit though Quote
AE_Rodney Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Man, those cockpit GPS systems are so cool. Can you believe they don't let you fly with a GPS until you've finished your private pilots license . But then again, who's going to look for caches from 1000ft in the air? Quote
