+HummerH1
I have a Garmin 60CS and I have saved a number of tracks which I would like to convert to permanent routes. I have looked through Mapsource but I can find no way of doing it. Anybody know of a way? Bazzer Quote Link to comment
GeoBobC
A route is limited to 50 points, so you'll lose quite a bit of resolution if you have long tracks. Quote Link to comment
+HummerH1
On the 60cs it can store 50 routes of up to 250 waypoints each. So that is not much of a problem for my use. Bazzer Quote Link to comment
+Alan2
I'm not sure if G7TOWIN does but I know that National Geographic Topo will for sure. It will create a route that follws the track and places the waypoints at the most important places like at the turns. You can select the number of waypoints so not to exceed your GPS limit for routes. Or you can select equal distance between route waypoints - some thing less useful in my opinion. Topo is expensive but you get 24K USGS quad maps as the main purpose of their program. Quote Link to comment
+HummerH1
I have found the answer in Terrain Navigator by Maptech. I have a old copy which I installed and upgraded to the latest version online. It is very easy to convert a track to a route in a single step. Great software! Bazzer Quote Link to comment

wshelley46060
GPSTrackMaker freeware will do this too. I too want to convert a track to a route. I have a 60csx. I downloaded GPSTrackmaker. I can't find a function to do this conversion, though. Can you point me in the right direction? Quote Link to comment

It's kinda hidden away in the menus . Once you have a track loaded into Trackmaker double click on the track to select it (it should show a line of dots when selected). From the menu select Tools->Tracklogs and Routes->Tracklog Reducer->Create a Route. Quote Link to comment
