It would be better that you do not activate it, but rather contact the coin maker about a replacement.

What Coin are we talking about? Is it the Portuguese Coin? If so, you can send a mail to this address questions@gccoins.com asking them to replace the coin. If not, try to find who makes the coin and ask them to replace the coin. Maybe contacting whoever sold you the coin.

The same goes for my Cache Run Coin if you have a problem with it. This goes I am sure for just about anyone who might have minted coins. All that I have worked with have been good people.

Another alternative to replacing the coin is to have the coin project coordinator for the coin you have check to see if your number is a duplicate. If not, Groundspeak can make an adjustment to the database so your activation code matches the number on your coin.
